How to connect printer to Wifi

Bonifaz3

I've bought a Canon TR 4650 Printer and tried to connect it wo my Network. I get the error message, that my computer is connectet to a network with a frecuency the printer does not support - I guess 5Ghz.

I'm using my Computer (iMac) with a Google Wifi as a repeater for the Google Nest Wifi. Can I individually assign frecuencys for example Nest Wifi 5ghz but the Google Wifi only 2.4ghz?

Thanks in advance!

2.4ghz and 5ghz are always combined into a single SSID with both Google Wifi and Nest Wifi, and there is no setting available to us to change that.

Possible workarounds include:

  • Use a ethernet cable instead, if such a port exists on the device.
  • Use an old router as an extra access point for devices that supports 2.4ghz only. Connect it by ethernet cable Nest Wifi, set it up as access point only making sure you disable NAT and DHCP.
    • Eventually buy a cheap access point. Repeaters often has the ability to function as pure access points too.

This is a frequent topic on here, see previous threads for more info and possible workarounds:

I don't work for Google.
