Improving Performance of Home Nest Wifi Setup

Hi there, I just read that I’ll be able to use a second Nest Wifi router to act as a point to my network; and is just wondering whether I’ll be able to get my nest wifi point (point) to connect a router that act as a point or only connect to the main router. My home structures is a bit semi-outdoor, with different rooms being in different structures connected by terraces, and thick walls all over.

Thanks before!

Whilst the answer to that is yes, you should be aware that the Google Wifi and Nest Wifi mesh system uses a fewest hops approach. If one of your secondary points can get even a weak connection to your main Nest Wifi Router or primary Wifi point, it will do that instead of going through an intermediary Wifi point/router that may physically be closer. That can sometimes result in poor performance, but it also depends on lots of other factors, such as the layout and construction of your home.

Hi there David,

Thank you so much for your time and kind response. I see, thank you so much for the information and answer. It gives me a little more understanding of how things are working. Meanwhile, I’ll be testing out by moving things around along with my Nest Wifi setups. Hope you have a nice week ahead!

Kind regards,

Heinrich 😊
