Hello. I am new to the whole smart house deal. I am in the process of buying a home and I have read and heard that Google Nest WiFi, although an expensive setup, is super reliable and provides strong signals. I am therefore leaning towards buying it.
But since WiFi is the heart of the smart house, it is probably the most important part to know in detail. Well, I have read that one doesn't get to decide which frequency the WiFi is set up, that Nest WiFi decides on its own. Does this mean that I get a WiFi network on either 2.4 or 5GHz? I worry because most smart IoT accessories like bulbs, switches and whatnot come for 2.4GHz connectivity only.
So what's the deal here? If I go for Google Nest WiFi, do I get a single network on a specific frequency? Or do I get both? Or can I choose (but apparently you can't)?
I beg for your expert advise and precise/assertive responses.

You'll get one SSID (or two if you enable the guest network) broadcasting on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
IoT/ "smart" equipment designed properly will then be able to connect to 2.4GHz. Like my 4x Nest protect, 4x Mill heat ovens, 1x Roborock/ Xiaomi S50 vacuum, and 1x Netatmo Home Coach.
You can not disable/ enable/ seperate 2.4ghz and 5ghz manually, at will.

No built in Zigbee or Z-wave, but "Thread" apperently (never heard about until now).

That's great @olavrb thanks for clarifying as it was confusing for me.
Some further reading and product exploring has led me to a review of a TP-Link mesh that claims to have Zigbee and Bluetooth, and I have seen some products, like door locks, that seem to be Bluetooth-only. I suppose Nest WiFi can only handle WiFi devices, correct? If I were to buy a BT device, I won't be able to hook it up. Only products with the BT antenna will handle those. Accurate?

Interesting. So Thread and any BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) devices. I wonder if BLE excludes regular Bluetooth. As in, it HAS to be BLE or else doesn't work. Anyway, this has been very helpful. I appreciate all your help.

Hi, webJose.
It looks like you were able to get an answer with olavrb's help, but I just want to follow up real fast and see if you needed anything else here. If so, just let me know.
Thanks!
