Hello, I am trying to improve the wifi signal in my house. I live in a 2,540 square foot home, I have a basement, a ground level floor, and an upstairs floor.
I have a modem and router currently, but the wifi signal is extremely weak in many areas of my home.
Should I buy a Google Nest router with two points? Or should I buy two or three Google WiFi routers? Or should I buy two or three Google Nest routers?
If I buy multiple routers, do I need multiple modems? Is it difficult to set up/connect more than one router?

Only one modem / internet connection needed, yes.
Nest Wifi routers can also be used as secondaries, as the setup guidance mentions:
Just don't try to mix Nest Wifi Pro with the older Nest Wifi router and point, as Pro is not backwards compatible.

Also, the basement square footage is not included in the 2,540 number. The basement is probably about 1,000 square feet.

I'd rather buy three Nest Wifi router or Nest Wifi Pro, as the add on points aren't that good.
Whether you should buy Wi-Fi products from Google vs others: Read some reviews before you make up your mind. Buy new products with the option to return them if you don't like them. If you find bugs or issues you can't live with; don't fall for promises about bugs being fixed in the future, just return them and try something else. Google, TP-Link, Netgear, Ubiquiti / UniFi; doesn't matter.

No matter what you end up with: Try to avoid double NAT:

If you end up with Nest Wifi.
About how many you need; more isn't neccessarily better, too many will give worse performance:
Where to place them:

Ok, great reply, thank you.
So I only need one modem for the whole house?
And I can just buy as many routers as I need, and they will connect/communicate thru the software?
