Do you have to go through the complete setup process after a factory reset? I have four nest routers.

That is correct. A factory reset completely wipes all settings and resets it back to like it was when it was unboxed the first time.

The factory reset for each of the 4 devices went without a hitch. What I didn't realize was that I would have to reset all my wifi plugs and switches too. I have a total of about 30 devices on my wifi system. Of course, not all are the plugs and switches. It turned out to be more time consuming than I had planned.
Thanks, Garth

The factory reset went well. But, my coverage did not improve. I have "had it" with these Google Nest WiFi routers. I have four selectively placed in my 3000 square foot home. I've been using them for 4 years. They have never worked seemlessly. I just can not rely on them. They require lots of tweaking and rebooting. I'm going to look for another system.

Hello Tannman,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re still experiencing issues. For a 4,000 sq. ft. home, normally just 1 Nest Wifi router and a Nest Wifi point should be enough. It also depends on the kind of home that you have. You can read more about it here. Try turning off some points and place the points within line of sight of each other. You can also try the steps in this article to improve your network’s speed. Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Abi
