Nest WiFi Pro Mesh Points Disconnect

When they work, it's great. When they don't, it's terrible.

Reconnecting the mesh wifi points is atrocious. Infinite orange flashing lights until a network default reset.

Anytime I have a provider service interruption, power outage, or want to move an access point, they never auto connect, or if they do, they drop in and out for a few days until somehow stabilizing.

Reconnecting the points is terrible. Storms last night briefly caused power outages, everything (ISP provider, proxmox and all the VMs/containers, main Nest WiFi access point, firewall, etc) with the exception of the access points will reconnect. 20 hours later, every access point is still flashing orange. Rebooting, unplugging, and holding the reset never works flawlessly. In fact, I have no idea what actually does work other than completely reset the entire network to default and starting over. Going through support is not helpful, especially if trying to just get the network up in a timely manner.

It's terrible and my last Nest WiFi purchase.

Hi @skeeterflea,

I'm really sorry that you are having this type of issue with your Nest WIFI. I need additional information from you that would be best shared privately. I’m sharing a link to a form for you to fill out so we can look into this further. This form. I'll also be walking you through some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Troubleshooting:

  • Double-Check Power and Cables: Make sure all the access points are securely plugged into working outlets and that the ethernet cables connecting them to the main router are firmly attached at both ends.

  • Try a Wired Backhaul: If you're currently using a wireless backhaul (where the access points connect to the main router wirelessly), consider setting up a wired backhaul for a more stable connection. Wired backhaul uses ethernet cables to connect the access points, reducing reliance on the Wi-Fi signal for communication.

  • Network Optimization Features: Some routers (including Nest Wifi) have features like network optimization or channel switching. While intended to improve performance, they might sometimes cause temporary connection issues after a disruption. Try temporarily disabling these features and see if it helps with reconnection.

Regards,

Mario.
