Nest Wifi Home

WalterD
Community Member

We moved to an other home and I created a new home with another Home Name.

Removed all devices from my home and created a new one. Added all my google devices into the new home with the correct name. But the 3 Google Wifi points keeps showing my old Home Name. Tried a factory reset, removing again, without any results. Even bought a new Nest Wifi Router, removed alle google points and installed the new router. Unfortunately it gets the old home name.

There are no problems with the network connections but is there a fix to change the Home Name off the Wifi points?

Thanks, Walter

I am having this same issue! Makes me crazy that I can't update the home name that my 3 wired back haul nest wifi points are linked to. My audio groups are also performing terribly. I have 28 nest audio speakers throughout the house and they just crash or suffer terrible latency when trying to use them all in one group. My internet speed consistently gets about 800 down and 40 up.

Hi, WalterD.

Sorry for the setup issues you're having getting things working at the new home. That sounds like a confusing situation. Thanks for letting me know what you have tried so far.

With your old Home settings bringing up your previous home setup, I just wanted to make sure that you have deleted the previous home from your account. If not, here's the process for doing that.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Switch to the home you want to delete.
  3. Tap Settings   Delete this home  Delete.

At this point, the devices may need to be reset once more to ensure that they are no longer assigned to any home and that they won't take on those settings from your account once more. After that, try setting everything up again with the new home address. If you are still having issues at that point, please let me know and we can look at more options.

Thanks.

I can't switch to the other home in the home app. Removed it after we moved and created a new one. That's the only one I can see. All the devices are shown here and with the right home name. Even the wifi points are in this home but when you go to the wifi device settings it shows the old home name.

Hey, WalterD.

Thanks for the follow up. So you have done everything right, including removing the old home address. I'm not seeing another instance on the forums where users can't get their factory reset to fully take place. With multiple reports, I've decided to escalate the issue internally and we'll have more eyes on the problem. As I learn more, I'll keep you updated.

Thanks.

Hey, WalterD.

I still haven't received any word of a fix for this, but I wanted to check in to see if your situation was still the same. I know it's been a while, so hopefully this issue has been resolved, but if not, let's continue looking at this. Let me know.

Thanks.

Hi, everyone.
As we haven't had any activity here recently I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. If you have more to add, feel free to start a new discussion.
Thanks

Hey, @nestWIFIbummer.

Sorry about the performance issues you're seeing. Would you actually mind starting up a separate thread with your issue? I would like to make sure it gets the most views possible and jumps to the top of the thread list as it appears to be different issue than the original post.

Thanks.
