Nest Wifi lan

Hi

I have Google wifi router and points all over my house. I have connected the points with Lan wires and the connection seems to be correct. The connection goes from the modem > Google router > Switch > points. However if I try to test the mesh speed, the app says the connection is weak.

Hello @JasonG1

It sounds like you have things connected properly. I would make sure the switch you're using is an unmanaged switch (managed switches often have STP – loop detection – enabled in a way that conflicts with Google/Nest WiFi). Next, I'd check the connection type for each of those wired secondary points to make sure the Google Home app shows them as being "wired". If that all checks out, and a mesh test still shows them as being "weak" I'd start testing the wiring to ensure it's managing to negotiate and hold a 1Gbps connection speed instead of falling back to 100Mbps.

Hi and thank you for your reply.
how can I see if I have a unmanaged switch? My switch is a Netgear Nighthawk S8000 8 port Gigabit switch.
my Google app shows the points as wired and the connectors are  all connected correctly according to network cable tester.

I did a little research, and it looks like that switch is a smart/managed switch. It also appears to have loop detection enabled, and I don't know that it can be disabled. If you have tested all the cables with another device and proven they can maintain a 1Gbps connection, then I would try replacing that switch with a simpler unmanaged model, if only as a test.
