Nest Wifi

Good afternoon,
I've reached out to Google support twice with the following questions, but they would not provide me with a direct answer(s).
If someone could please provide clarification - would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Shane

Good afternoon,

My wife and I already have a Google Wifi Mesh system (1 router, two points), but we are looking to upgrade.

We are looking at the Google Nest Wifi system(1 router with two points).

Where we would place the router(which is in the living room - central location) - but the router doesn't have the speaker/mic built in to use Google assistant. Only the points have the speaker/mic system, which kind of defeats the purpose when we want to use Google assistant from our living room. The two points would be on opposite ends of the house for maximum coverage.

My question(s) is;

1. If I purchase a Google Nest Mini, can I connect it to the Nest Wifi system? Which we would centrally locate in the living room next to the Nest router.

2. If the mini does connect, and we tell it to play music, will it also play music through the Nest Wifi points on the opposite side of the house?

3. Once the mini is connected, would I still be able to give the Nest wifi points commands, music etc and would the music play through the mini at that point? Do they all work together or are they completely independent of one another?

4. If questions 1 through 3 don't hold true, would we need to purchase a third Nest Wifi point and place it in the living room?

Please advise.

Thank you,
Shane

Hi

I don't have the latest Google Nest Mini, only Google Wifi just like you, but I also have several Google Nest mini at my home.

Let me reply what I can say according to my experience.

1. If I purchase a Google Nest Mini, can I connect it to the Nest Wifi system? Which we would centrally locate in the living room next to the Nest router.

Yes, The Google Nest Mini works fine with the Nest Wifi. I understand that "The Router" (with no mic/speaker) will be in the living room. So, I guess you can put the Nest Mini just beside it to have a Google Assistant on your living room.

2. If the mini does connect, and we tell it to play music, will it also play music through the Nest Wifi points on the opposite side of the house?

Do you want it to play the music everywhere? You can do that with Google Home. I have a group with all the google devices called "Everyhere". So when I say play music everywhere, it plays music on all the chromecase and nest minis I have on that group.

If you don't want it to play it on a group, the first device that hears you and get the command is usually the one that plays the music.

3. Once the mini is connected, would I still be able to give the Nest wifi points commands, music etc and would the music play through the mini at that point? Do they all work together or are they completely independent of one another?

I guess the Nest Wifi endpoints will keep working with the Google Assistant. I think they will be independent. I have a Nest Hub in my room and Nest Mini on my bathroom, almost close, and the one that hears me first and clearly is the one that executes the command.

4. If questions 1 through 3 don't hold true, would we need to purchase a third Nest Wifi point and place it in the living room?

If you only want the "Google Assistance" experience on your Living Room, you have your internet point is there with the Nest Wifi Router, you only require a Nest Mini there.

This is only my opinion based on my experience and what I had read about the Nest Wifi. Maybe someone else can give us more lights about this.

Regards
