I got a new Nest wifi point. When I opened Google home app, it asked me to install device utility app. I did that and followed the steps. It seemed that activation was successful. I then went back to the Google home app. But it again asks to activate the device. What am I missing? Why did we add a new step of "Activation" via a separate app.?
@AndreaNest's suggestion got me unstuck, but I think got stuck in a loop in the Home app, asking me what type of device I wanted to add, but never finding anything. I factory reset the wifi point and went back to the Home app. It then worked (and didn't need additional activation, that appears to be independent of the reset).
Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know. Thanks again to alansp for sharing what worked for them.
