Nest wifi router random

pwheeler1965

Hello, my nest router randomly stops working. It's wierd, every couple hours all of a sudden I will notice on mine and my wife's pixels that the wifi isn't working. This goes on for about 15 minutes until it starts working correctly again. Meanwhile I'm still watching TV (streaming), or listening to the radio on nest devices (streaming). How can our phones not see or work with the wifi while other systems are still working fine. The nest itself looks normal, same single white light on like normal. Any help would be very appreciated!

Thanks!

Hello pwheeler1965,

Thanks for posting — let’s see what’s going on.

Please answer the following: when did you first notice this issue? What's the model of your Pixel phones? Have you tried any troubleshooting steps already?

Ensure that both Pixel phones are up-to-date with their software. Reboot them and if the issue persists, forget the Wi-Fi network on your devices, then reconnect them.

Keep me in the loop.

Best,
Lovely

Hello Lovely, mine and my wife's cell are both 6a and fully up to date. It also does the same on my son's pixel 6, also up to date. We have reset all of them and reset the WiFi network many times. It's random when it does it, sometimes it happens about every hour, sometimes not for days. My son has the Exact same router and WiFi system and his works perfectly.

Thank you.

Hi pwheeler1965,

We appreciate the additional information. Go ahead and change your DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary servers, respectively. Once done, perform a 2-minute power cycle by following the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the power from the modem.
  2. Disconnect the Ethernet cable and power cord from the parent point.
  3. Disconnect the power cord from the child points.
  4. Leave everything unplugged for 2 minutes.
  5. Connect the power cord to the modem, then to your router and points.

Keep me posted.

Cheers,
Lovely

Hey pwheeler1965,

Have you tried the troubleshooting steps that I suggested? Let me know if that did the trick or not, so we can try something else.

Thanks,
