Setting up Google Nest Wifi - The operation timed out and couldn't be completed

I have an existing Google Home with 5 access points successfully working.  I have a Google Nest Wifi (newer model) that goes through setup until the final part where it states "downloading the final bits ....." but keeps coming back with "The Operation timed out and couldn't be completed".  My only choice is to click "Done".  It then adds the Nest device under Wifi Devices but it's not working and just basically in no man's land.  My only recourse is to "Remove the Device" and start again.

I have tried the following steps to troubleshoot:

1.  Factory reset the Nest Wifi at least 5x with no success

2.  Tried reinstalling Google Home app on my iPhone and rebooting my iPhone - didn't help

3.  Tried setting up the Nest Wifi on my iPad - didn't help

4.  Rebooted the whole Wifi network - no help

Beyond resetting the entire Wifi network and having to setup every Wifi device again from scratch, anyone have any other suggestions?

ok, after spending some time with Google Support, I ended up fixing it sort of by trying something which seemed not a big deal but it was the issue. There is a bug in the software where if you try to reuse a room (e.g. Sunroom), it would fail. The fix was to simply create a new room (e.g. Sunroom 2) and it was able to connect and everything is working fine now.  Hope this helps some else in the future.

Hey, keg0bass.

Thanks for updating the thread with the solution. I'm happy to hear that worked out for you, and that kind of info will help others with the same problem and also our support teams to better understand these sorts of things. Since we have our resolution, I'm going to go ahead and close up the thread, but if you need anything else, please feel free to open up a new discussion.

Thanks.
