Setting up Nest wifi points

Nat33
Community Member

Hi, I am setting up a new a Google nest wifi system with router and two points. I am having trouble setting up the points. When adding the second point, after scanning the QR code, the app tells me to turn on wifi in settings when it is already on. I can’t get any further than this. If I choose the Google nest point that show up in the available networks, it then asks for a password. I use the password that I chose when setting up the router but it says it’s incorrect. I’m getting nowhere with this!! Help!

Make sure you have no VPN enabled/ connected; not any 3rd party product, nor the "Apple iCloud Private Relay".

Make sure the Google Home app has permissions to "local network access".

Hi, the issue has not been resolved. Could it be that the nest point is too far from the nest router? Or should it be picking up the other nest point I have rather than the router?

Did you try the things that olavrb suggested? I used to install these everyday and we ran until those two scenarios regularly. Also try another phone, android if possible.

Could be smart to keep the point close to the primary puck while adding it to Google Home. But also make sure you check the things I mentioned previously.

Hey Nat33,

Sorry the issue still hasn't been resolved. Now that it's been a few days, are you still facing the some troubles, or have the suggestions here helped move you along in the process? If you're still stuck, let me know if it's still on the same step or where you're getting hung up on the process and I'll be happy to jump in and help more.

Thanks,

Jeff
