I seem to be having the same problem as so many others - Wifi slows to a crawl, and I need to run a 'Test Mesh' to get it to work properly again. It works for a while - a day or so on average - and then I have to repeat the process.
This has been reported by MANY users for A LONG TIME. It is shocking to me that a company with Google's resources would leave this unaddressed for so long. But Google's brand has become synonymous with indifference to customers.
Seems clear Google doesn't care about providing a resolution, so I guess I need to get rid of this system and replace it with something more reliable from a better company with actual customer service. I wonder how much landfill is taken up by non-functioning / discontinued Google hardware products. Probably a lot.

Hi krilleny,
That certainly isn’t the experience we want you to have, and we apologize for the delay. A few questions: are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Which Google/Nest router are we working with? What device are you using to set up your network (iOS or Android)? Do you have the Internet from your modem?
You can do a sequential reboot of your entire network and see if that helps.
or
Please perform a 2-minute power cycle on your entire network to re-establish the connection on your connected devices. Here's how:
Also, you can give these steps a try:
You may skip any step that you’ve done already.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Dan

Honestly Google, I don't want to have to keep doing this.
How about you just fix the bugs? 🤷🏿♂️
11-11-2023 03:55 PM
Like everyone else I have the same issue, Worked reasonably well up for 3 years, until about 6 weeks ago then speeds have plummeted. Speed to the main router is great, 873mbps upload / 40mbps upload. However, even standing next to the router I’m getting 30-50 mpbs and sometimes less. After a toggle of the cloud services and settings the DNS settings manually as suggested it gets slightly better for about 10 minutes - maybe 80 mpbs then crashes as low as 20. Have repositioned all of the points. Same issue
This is obviously a Google issue, based upon all of the posts here. Before I trash all of the nodes that I own and buy a gaming router is there another fix or at least an acknowledgement that there is a known isssue?
12-18-2023 01:50 PM
Same problem here. Everything was fine until about a month ago. Now everything is slow, TV included. Google, if you want everyone to buy new routers, just say so and save a lot of headaches, although I would have expected at this price point for things to work a lot longer.
11-13-2023 06:45 AM
Dude can you give detailed step and you have asked more questions than answers
I am using att fiber and hard wired speed is 700 mb but mesh WiFi is negligible.. after reset it is ok for 10 mins and bad agsib
csn you just provide screen shot of best settings with different options
11-13-2023 06:55 AM
It's weird that they just give beginner-level prompts like "unplug it" or "make sure you are close by". They won't even acknowledge there is an issue. Like, at all. It's like talking to bots. (Hmmmn?)
12-30-2023 05:27 AM
Thank you Dan this what I suspected - so the recommended solution by Google is to restart all devices every day correct? (problem is coming back every other day) please advise.
10-15-2023 12:04 PM
Same issue here. I've even done chat with google and they couldn't figure it out. Promised to send replacement nest devices - even though mine were brand new from the google fiber install. Never got them. My WIRED PC speedtests are consistently 900+Mbps UP&DOWN, but then a laptop, connected to the wifi right next to wired desktop will get 20-30Mbps on speedtest. Currently getting 7.8Mbps on wifi. I shoudl NOT have to reset the wifi weekly or daily.
10-16-2023 11:02 PM
Hi,
same problem here since a week or so... it just recovers after running a test mesh, but does not last long...
crazy, never failed since 1 week ago... is it related to an update or something??
10-17-2023 02:21 PM
Hello folks,
@cutlock, @gserGe, we’re sorry to hear about your concerns. That isn’t the experience we want you to have. Just so we’re on the same page, have you done the steps above? If so, how was it? This is so we will know what steps to take next.
@krilleny, how are we doing? Please confirm the status of your network connection.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
Dan

Hello Dan,
yes, I performed the steps above, but, it works for some time, then back to 1mbps...
I have this setup since almost 2 years ago, and never had a problem on wifi since now.
I will try to reset the config on all wifi devices.

I've been googling this issue, and I'm experiencing exactly the same symptoms. Getting 400 mb/s at modem (third party modem, not provided through xfinity). I have had zero problems since I got the nest 2-3 years ago. I have not made any changes to my internet and everything on their end is showing things working fine. The problem arose within the last month. I haven't tried a factory resent, but every other reboot has resulted in it working for 12-18 hours and then having it revert to 2-5 mb/s. It is an older generation of google nest, but has been working fine up until a month ago.
10-17-2023 11:14 PM
Same issue here ongoing now for maybe a couple months.
Many restart/power cycle attempts, although not the specific extended duration test outlined here which I shall be trying.
10-18-2023 04:14 PM
Having the same issue Herr. Router at 300mbps and mesh at 4 mbps. I unplug and replug the mesh and works fine for a while then crashes again.
10-18-2023 04:21 PM
Had the same issue, 550 Mbps at the router and 60-130 Mbps on wifi even 2 ft away. (Hardwired produced the same 550 Mbps). Spent hours on this with Google techs, every possible diagnostic showed no issues with the ISP or anything I was doing. One rep even tried to convince me that Speedtest and other sites were simply wrong because they were third party and I was imagining everything.
There is no fix -- except to buy another mesh network from another manufacturer. I did just that and now have Wifi speeds of around 250 Mbps in most rooms.
10-18-2023 04:30 PM
Same, this also seems to be an ongoing issue, and google only gives restart/reboot when it is clearly a software issue and they refuse to fix it.
10-19-2023 12:46 AM
Same problem here. Rebooting and it works for about 5 minutes, then it drops to nothing.
10-19-2023 10:49 PM
Same problem here, started a week or 2 ago, after working perfectly for 2-3 years.
Tried all solutions presented except (except factory reset, which I suspect will be just as ineffective in the long term)
Google have you pushed out a software update recently?
model: AC-1304
software version: 14150.376.32
Please fix this ASAP we are tired of having to reset/reboot our Google wifi product.
10-20-2023 10:23 PM
Honestly I feel google should offer free replacement or money back. I’m not the only one I know personally with this issue. It was awesome at first then slowly started to turn into a nightmare
10-27-2023 07:28 AM
I had mine for four months, and in the last one, I started facing exactly the same issue you all had, so I asked Google for assistance to replace my device. After more than two weeks, with no response, they told me my device had a flag on the system that could not be replaced.
😑
10-20-2023 02:53 PM
Same problem for me after 2 years
10-20-2023 10:20 PM
@Dan_A tried the suggested reboot procedure with no positive impact.
I'm using a fibre to ethernet direct to the nest router.
Repositioned my additional points to strengthen backhaul.
System was fine for years. Now actual WiFi speeds drop to 1 or 2 Mbps out of nowhere and internet becomes unusable. Only fix is a reboot.
I am using the recent firmware updates on router and points.
Google needs to fix this please
10-21-2023 12:54 PM
Same issue here - could not even watch my streaming services. I want a replacement or money back. Was fine till now. Based on reading this I’m not going to spend hours trying to fix. Money back or new product please.
10-22-2023 04:29 AM
I've had the same issue for a while now. Mesh goes down, internet slows to crawl. One or more of the points goes off. I do a speed test or mesh test and suddenly everything is fine. I've reset and rebooted many times, it fixes for a bit and then goes down. really disappointing given the money I've spent on it.
10-22-2023 05:54 AM
I should have expected this from google. They always put something out, then stop caring about it 1-2 years later(just look at messenger apps). Everything is always in beta. I mean seriously how many years does it take to integrate nest with google home??? It’s not a lack of funding. They half bake something, serve it, then never come back to the table and ask how the meal was. Such trash. People have complained about issues with this product for years and the only solution given is reboot/restart blah blah. Google needs to make this right.
11-05-2023 05:14 AM
That's about right. Google lost interest in Nest Home security so not only did they discontinue the products, they are shutting down whatever minimal support infrastructure is required and bricking the products sometime next year. They offered some discount on replacement hardware, but it's clear they don't care how many of their customers they inconvenience, or how much perfectly usable equipment ends up as toxic e-waste.
10-22-2023 07:25 AM
Same problem here. Please help with real solution!!!
10-22-2023 09:39 AM
Google support had me set manual DNS and reset cloud services.
Not particularly optimistic but we'll see how it goes today.
10-22-2023 10:19 AM
Classic google, put a bandaid on the problem. I’ve personally changed DNS settings with only a 10% increase. ISP router is 700 down, google 20, increase to 22 down
10-23-2023 05:42 AM
I did all that, no change. Doesn't fix the apparent bottleneck with wifi speeds. (Hardwire speeds are fine.)
10-23-2023 06:50 PM
OP here. My issue was resolved with a factory reset of the entire network. I did this 2 weeks ago and I have not had the issue since. I suggest everyone try this.
10-23-2023 09:21 PM
I have tried factory reset, the problem returned after a short time for me. Also tried switching round the primary wifi, powering off one of the points, to see if one of the 3 was defective and causing it.
10-23-2023 07:18 PM
Been experiencing the same problem since March of this year. Numerous support rounds where they ask me my ISP information and have me change to their dns has like everyone else done nothing. In the 4 years I’ve had this network I’ve had to factory reset 2 different times to solve other issues (unable to revive a pint, constant network drops) which eventually got solved through firmware updates. I’m sure they have enough data at this point, look at all the vocal people here who found this thread, but are likely unable to cut a new release because nobody competent is actually working on this product anymore. Google, prove me wrong.
10-24-2023 08:53 PM
The cloud services off/on reset (network settings>privacy settings>nest WiFi cloud services) has yielded an appreciable improvement on my end for the last couple days.
Worth trying.
10-25-2023 05:43 AM
Thank you! I have been trying everything here for a few days. This is the first thing that worked. My speed has gone from 100 Mbps to 491 Mbps on my 600 service after this one simple action. I will try to update in a few days if it sticks or anything changes.
10-25-2023 04:46 PM
Are we supposed to toggle it off then back on? What are the steps required.
10-26-2023 09:05 AM
Yeap toggle off on.
Let us know how you fair.
10-26-2023 01:36 PM
I just had a call with Google Support today and the two things they had me change were:
- custom dns services (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)
- toggle cloud services
After doing that my wifi device download speed went from 0.9 mbps to near my expected 91-100 mbps after turning off and back on the cloud services setting within "privacy settings".
10-26-2023 04:17 PM - edited 10-26-2023 04:18 PM
Ok so after 3 days of real improvement, the WiFi just fell over again.
Same issue - presents as either transmit or receive link speed dropping to 1 or 2 Mbps and no internet.
