I've noticed that the smart speaker capability in the wifi node I keep in my kitchen has been getting dumber for a while. It works in almost all respects like a normal Nest Speaker while also serving wifi, which is great, but the speaker functionally seems to be degrading. To clarify, I mean the ability of the node to serve as a google assistant, and not the physical ability of the speaker to put out sound.
For a very specific example which I noticed recently, it no longer listens appropriately when I tell it to stop a timer. My All of the Google devices in my house support a functionality along the lines of "Hey Google, start a timer for ten minutes." When the timer goes off, I used to be able to stop it just by saying "Stop." Not "Hey Google, stop" but only "Stop."
My other smart speakers still support this functionality, but it seems to be broken on the speaker in my wifi node specifically, it no longer listens to me telling it to stop a timer unless I say "Hey Google" first. This wouldn't really matter except that it makes no sense for it to only stop working on one specific speaker.

Yes I have noticed the same thing . I disabled the mike and put in smart speaker. Works a lot better

You know, I do have a couple of spares sitting around. I'll probably do that myself at some point, if only for a more consistent experience. I can't fathom why the smart speaker in the wifi node is getting so much dumber and more finicky in particular, but I figured I'd at least come here and mention it.
