Switching Google Wifi pucks to new routers

I have three old Google Wifi pucks running a mesh network connected to a Verizon FIOS router.

I have just gotten Starlink and set up three of the new generation Google Wifi units to connect to Starlink.

I would like to switch the old Wifi pucks to the new network but cannot figure out how to do this.

I set up the new units in the Google Home app on my phone. They are all recognized in the app.

The old pucks were set up some other way before the Google Home app even existed. I cannot figure out how to get the Google Home app to even recognize they are there. They are still working fine connecting with the old network, but they are not recognized or visible in the Google Home app. Nor are they recognized when I unplug them from the old network and try to add them as a new device in the app.

I see this question has been posed many times before, but I haven't seen any answer that doesn't involve setting them up with the "add device" button in the app, which is exactly what is not working here.

tl;dr I want a Wifi unit connecting to one router to start connecting to another one.

Help appreciated.

Thank you

If I understand correctly you've setup a new Wi-Fi network with new Wifi points, and want to add your older Wifi points to that new network. To do that, you need to factory reset them using their physical reset button,

Factory reset your Wifi device - Google Nest Help

Scroll to the bottom of the article, select "My device isn't available in the Google Home app", then select the model you're resetting to see the reset steps. Once reset, you can join them to your new network by following the steps linked below:

Set up Nest Wifi Pro or Nest Wifi - Google Nest Help

Select the model you have underneath "Set up your Wi-Fi network", scroll down and follow the steps underneath "Add a point or an additional router".

Be aware that if its Nest Wifi Pro you've purchased that network can only consist of other Nest Wifi Pro units.

Thanks for the fast reply, that sounds like something that *ought* to work, I will give it a shot and repot back.

Welp, it worked to get the device recognized on the app, but apparently it's too old, says it does not support Wi-Fi 6E. It is a Google puck though and not Nest branded. Thanks nonetheless

It sounds like your new wifi points are Nest Wifi Pro. Nest Wifi Pro can only be combined with other Nest Wifi Pro, it won't support your older Google Wifi points.

Do you mind taking a look at my thread to see if you can offer any assistance? In short our Google wifi is broadcasting at about 1/5 the speed that's hitting the router. Thanks!
