This Nest Wifi point was manufactured for a different country

I'm been having some horrible intermittent connection problems.  I've factory reset my network hundreds of times, in an attempt to resolve the issue.   Suspecting that the problem was with my router, I purchased a new router.  After configuring the new router, I attempted to add 2 of my existing Nest Wifi points.  During configuration, after entering the setup code, I get the message shown in the attached photo.  I get this on both WiFi points.  I don't recall ever seeing this message until I installed the new router.  If I remove the WiFi points from the network, and add a couple of Nest routers, I get a great connection to all points.  So, I've determined that I have two Nest points that somehow got configured for a different country code.  Is this even possible?  Is it possible to set them back to U.S.?

Hi, nickp001.

Sorry for the issues you're having getting your points set up. I am sure that's frustrating to deal with. Let's see what we can do to resolve the issue.

I have a few questions for you that will help us get this worked out.

  • What country are you in currently?
  • Is the new router a Nest/Google router, or is it a 3rd party device?
  • Do you have any issues connecting any other devices to your network, or is it only the WiFi points?
  • Where did you purchase the WiFi points?

If you can give me a little more to go on, I'm sure we can get this sorted out for you.

Thanks

Hi, nickp001.

I just wanted to check in real quickly to see if you saw my reply and if you still needed any help.

Thanks.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.  The access points in question were purchased as renewed from either Amazon or eBay, I don't recall which one it was.  I've since replaced the devices with new ones and everything is working fine.  The only problem now is I'm stuck with 2 Canadian Nest Access Points that I can't use.

Hey, nickp001.

Thanks for coming back and letting us know what the answer was. I'm sorry about the devices that aren't compatible with your region. I would think you could sell them secondhand, but just make sure you factory reset them first to avoid any data being left on the device.

As we have our answer, I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. If there's anything else we need, please feel free to open a new discussion. Thanks!
