Why does my modem keep saying connection failed when it checks internet strength?

I just moved into a new apartment and tried setting up my google fiber, but on the google home app it keeps saying “connection failure” when I try to set it up. All lights are solid blue and I can find the WiFi when I search it but it won’t connect.

Hey there Connor,

 

I'm sorry about the late response, I really appreciate your patience! Are you still experiencing this issue with setting up your internet? If so, I'd be happy to help figure out what the issue is, let me just ask you some questions:

  • Is your Google Home app up-to-date?
  • Is your iOS device up-to-date?
  • What Nest/Google Wi-Fi device do you own?
  • Have you set up this Modem and Nest Wi-Fi in the past?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?

For now, I would recommend checking out this article on the LED light for your Nest device, so you can see what they mean. Aside from that, factory resetting the devices help with a good amount of issues.
