WiFi button suddenly disappeared from Google Home app

Hi guys!

About two weeks ago, I purchased my Google nest router and managed to set it up with the Google Home app on iOS. Everything was working perfectly until two days ago I found out the Wifi button disappeared from the home screen, along with some other functions. (see below)

The network is still working fine but I can no longer access any of the wifi settings. Has anyone encountered the same issue? Any input is very much appreciated!

Any chance there is someone else part of your Google Home app ‘Household’, and they removed you?

Hey, all.

Sorry you've been having this issue with the Home app. I know it can be quite frustrating to try and manage your network when things aren't working as they should in the app. I do have something you can all try that might help. First, make sure your Home app is updated to the latest version. A new version was released fairly recently. Second, try toggling your cloud services setting. The instructions for that are below.

Open the Google Home app.

  1. Tap the WiFi icon.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Select Privacy settings.

  4. Toggle Nest WiFi cloud services OFF and wait for 30 seconds, then back ON.

Once done, close the Home app and perform a full network restart to ensure that the new settings are in place. To do this, I would recommend doing a power cycle on your network.

  1. Disconnect the power adapter and the Ethernet cable from the Nest WiFi router.

  2. Disconnect the power adapter from the Nest WiFi points.

  3. Disconnect the power adapter from the modem. Allow all devices to stay disconnected from the power for 5 minutes.

  4. Connect the power back to the modem only and wait for it to fully back up. All lights should be lit up before moving to the next step.

  5. After the modem is back online, connect the Ethernet cable back to Nest WiFi router's WAN port (globe symbol port).

  6. Connect the power back to the Nest WiFi router and to the Nest WiFi points. Wait until they're all fully back on.

Give that a try and see if it helps restore things to normal. If not, please come back and let me know. Thanks.

I do not have a Wi-Fi icon.
I tried the full network restart as well and nothing shows up in the home app.

Hey, hopehasrisen.

If you are unable to get the WiFi icon to show in Home, we do have a checklist to run through. Go ahead and give these a try: https://bit.ly/3kOOd8p.

If you still can't get it to show, try toggling the cloud services as I mentioned above. At that point, if you're not getting it to appear, please come back and let me know. Thanks.

None of those steps helped. I don’t see any Wi-Fi in the home app or in any google app.

Hey, hopehasrisen.

I just wanted to follow up real fast. This is still something I'm working to find an answer for and it's been a tricky one. There are some recommended fixes, but both you and harrylee94 seem to be experiencing something that is falling outside those steps. I just wanted to let you know that I didn't forget you and I'm still on this. Has anything changed in your situation, by the way? If so, just let me know.

Thanks for hanging in there.

Jeff,

Thanks for letting me know you are still working on a solution! Nothing has changed.

Hey, everyone.
Just as an update, we're still looking into this issue and as of yet we don't have a solution. I just wanted to touch base so you would know that you haven't been forgotten. In the meantime if anything else changes about your situation, please feel free to update us in the thread.
Thanks!

I followed the steps to reset the device and I got it to work again.

Awesome news, hopeasrisen. I'm glad the reset steps cleared it up for you.

Hey, harrylee94. Are you still having issues, or has it improved on your end as well?
