I have 400Mbps download speed from my modem. At best, my points hit 250Mbps (device speed test). When i was having slow speeds initially I contacted customer service. I had turned on IPv6, simply trying to find speeds, at least, as fast as my previous Orbi system. They had me turn that off. And after a while speeds increased.
While talking to customer service, I was told that the points have a maximum of 300Mbs. That if I paid to upgrade my internet service to a Gb speed, the points would top out at 300. Seriously?
Also, when I connect my pc directly to a point via ethernet, the speed is 50%-75% of what it is via wifi. Is that normal?

Hi all,
Sorry to hear you're still seeing slow speeds after the firmware update for your Nest Wifi Pro. Our teams are aware of an issue where the Google Home app built-in internet speed test results may be lower than expected for internet connection speeds faster than 500 Mbps. We're working on a fix to be rolled out in an upcoming software release-- please stay tuned to this thread for updates. We'll continue to monitor the comments and keep our team informed of the impact to you and other customers.
With that in mind, the speed test issue does not impact actual system performance. If you have an internet connection with speeds greater than 500 Mbps, we suggest using an alternate speed test app from your phone or computer.
Best,
Mel

There's a few things in play here and not knowing the full details of the network I can only say in broad terms.
They are correct that internet plans are "up to" speeds so as long as it falls between the lowest guaranteed speed and the "up to" speed then you are getting what you paid for. They also use this to up-sale you to a higher priced plan with more speeds; it is what they are paid to do in part.
You also could have an older modem or one of their "custom" in-house/branded ones. These are usually sub-models of ones you can buy off the shelf. All ISPs have to post a list of modems that are compatible to their systems and speeds and allow consumers to BYOM(odem) for use. If you have to call to get things provisioned versus an automated system, some will try to tell you something about it not being compatible or that it can't do the speeds you have. I always have the link ready so I can direct them to their documentation. Again, it is likely innocent to get one of theirs in your hands per training. As a bonus, since they don't own it and can't lock it down as much as their own, you can usually get better average speeds and sometimes 20-50+Mbps over your "up to" limit. I honestly have no idea what they are talking about with the "points maximum" comments; they make no sense and Nest Wifi ports are 1Gbps max. If you are referring to their modem, it is likely a setting they have that could be throttling the speeds due to the router connected not being theirs.
As far as the direct connection of your PC, it could be like described above or a setting, hardware, or issue on the PC itself.

Hi everyone,
@PatrickP_Viking, thanks for the help.
@MrMillyMike, thanks flagging reduced internet speeds on Nest Wifi Pro routers. The issue appears to be affecting a small number of users and concentrated in the UK. We've let the right folks know, and they're working to roll out a fix.
If you're also experiencing this behavior, feel free to add your report in the comments below and stay tuned to this community thread for updates.
Best,
Mel

I am in the US, not the UK. I get gigabit internet from Spectrum. I used to have a Nest WiFi, and the app would tell me I was getting between 500 and 800 megabits per second download speed. Last week I upgraded to the Nest WiFi Pro, and ever since then every speed test I have run from the Google Home app tells me I am only getting 200-300 Megabits. So I called Spectrum, and they came out. They tested the speed directly from the modem, and it was 958 megabits. Then they plugged in the Nest WiFi Pro router and tested the speed hardwired into the router, and the speed was 955 megabits. But then I ran the speed test from the Google Home app again, and the speed according to the app is 302 megabits? So what the heck is going on? Is the Google Home app lying to me? How am I supposed to know what speed I am actually getting?

Hi drrmjones,
Thanks for your patience and sorry for the delay.
Could you confirm which version your Nest Wifi Pro is on?

The settings are reporting the current software version as 1.63.327820
The internet speed test from the Google Home app is still giving similar results as always, around 300 Mbps, which is clearly too low (I get faster than that just doing a speed test from my laptop over WiFi).

I too am having odd speed test results from the main point. I can connect my phone to the main and get speed test results of 700+mbps. The main point, in Google Home's speed test, has never been above 400mbps. And 6ghz is nerfed on my other points.

Great to hear the Home App speed test issue is being addressed.

Except, I'm getting about 450Mbps from ISP (so <500Mbps), and 150Mbps from built-in speed test. (Even though I can get much higher by plugging directly into network and running speedtest.net)
ISP is BT in UK. Are you sure this only effects those on >500Mbps networks?

I am not sure of anything when it comes to the flakiness of these units and the app. All I know is that they have told us it is a "known issue" for speeds over 500 Mbps. So if your speed is less than that, this suggests it would be a different problem. But, as I say, I don't have much confidence that what they are telling us is correct, because there seem to be a variety of issues going on.
