connecting 1st gen Google Wifi to current Nest Wifi Mesh issues

Manny

I just recently installed a new Nest Wifi Mesh and am trying to connect the first generation Google Wifi to the network.

I've factory reset one of the old access points by holding in the factory reset button, plug the power cable in, waited 10 seconds for the light to start blinking and waited for a solid white light.

At this time I'm in my Google Home App adding a new device >> Wifi >> Google Wifi and I'm to the point where the App detects the new access point but will not allow me to connect to it.

My phone is connect just fine to the new Nest Wifi Mesh and has 400mb up/down, but I cannot connect the old Wifi Access point to the current Mesh.

Suggestions?

I have had the same problem. I phoned Google help and they advised:

  1. try factory reset again and try to set up and connect. Do this several times.
  2. use the Home app on a different phone/tab (worked for me)

It seems that the procedure is a bit flaky to say the least

Thanks, that's what we ended up having to do as well. I think 3 factory resets before it actually worked. We added two 1st gens to the new Nest WiFi mesh and the coverage is great. Thanks!

Hey, Manny.

It looks like you were able to get this worked out. Thanks Davy123 for the help here. Before I mark this as resolved I just wanted to follow up and see if there's anything else you needed on this or to see if you're all set. Let me know if there's more you need.

Thanks!
