google nest wifi pro 6e Won’t connect to nbn modem

Just bought google nest wifi pro 6e, won’t connect to internet via nbn modem or my existing wifi router. After tried all 3 devices and a hardreset (the button at the bottom), got it working with wifi router. So why it won’t connect to my nbn modem (tried dhcp or static ip in WAN), but didn’t work. Is this meant to work with nbn modem directly or need the existing wifi router, I was hoping to replacing the existing wifi router with the nest pro 6e. Very frustrating experience with t device from Google. Anyone else have experienced this?

Hi Fdx1688,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I understand that you’re trying to connect your new Nest Wifi Pro router directly to your NBN modem, but it fails. I appreciate the troubleshooting efforts you’ve already tried and I understand how frustrating it is not being able to replace your old router, because the Nest Wifi Pro router is not working as expected. Don’t worry, I'm here and ready to help resolve this.

Please answer the following questions to help me figure this out:

  • Did you get an error message during setup?
  • Are you using an iPhone or Android device to set up the network?
  • Is the Ethernet cable from the modem plugged into the teal port (with globe logo) on the Wifi device?
  • How many Wifi points are set up under your account?
  • Does the setup SSID broadcast on the unit being set up?

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Virna
