lagging with google nest

Hi

I have a google nest wifi gen 1 network within my household, i have i believe the max number of meshes in the house, but sometimes the whole house lags and has connectivity issues, other times it is completely fine and runs very smoothly.

The main issue is when i lag in video games but everyone else in the house is also experiencing this issue along with me, my desktop is wireless and i have a hub just above my room, i had it  in my room for a bit but nothing has seemed to change, the hub on the app says it has great connection.

also the house is connected via a fibre cable and the main mesh is connected to that fibre.

Hi Joshua_turner,

Thanks for taking the time to post to our community.

I understand that you occasionally experience lagging and connectivity challenges with your Google Nest WiFi mesh, while other times it works perfectly fine. I appreciate you sharing important details with us, such as the increased lag for you and the members of your home when playing video games. Additionally, the extra information you have provided will help me assist you better. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • Could you please let me know when the inconvenience began?
  • What's your approximate home or apartment's lot area in square feet?
  • Besides the Google Nest WiFi router, how many access points do you have?
  • What access points are affected?
  • Were there any recent changes in your network setup?
  • How many devices actively use the internet at once?
  • Did you change your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?
  • Do you use a modem and router combo?
  • Is there a switch located on the network?
  • Have you tried to run a speed test while connected directly to the modem?
  • What troubleshooting steps had you already tried before you contacted support?

I will be looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna
