nest wifi cant communicate with a google home device

I have nest wifi with the 2 add on points running for a while now with a hub, 4 mini's and a google home.  the google home has recently been dropping wi-fi daily, need to unplug it and restart to re-establish.  so I decided to factory reset the google home.   Now when adding it to the home, I hear the sound but it wont add to wifi. gets the could not connect to your google home.   my phone is 2 feet away my google wifi router is less than 6 feet away.  I've tried restarting the network  still no joy.  Ever since they merged the wifi into the home app the network  details barely ever works  maybe time to throw the google wifi in the trash and get a real mesh network
