no ip address

spectrum is my ISP. I set up a Google mesh network and everything was working great until i moved and got a new modem from them. . When they finished, my modem connected but the Wi-Fi router wouldn’t. After numerous restarting of the modem and router and a long call with spectrum(who said the modem was connected and looked fine) I did the factory reset on the Google router. But it still won’t connect to the modem. I’m at wit’s end. Any ideas?

I can get an ip address from spectrum if i plug my nest wifi router into the spectrum router (while the spectrum router is connected to the spectrum modem) if i remove the spectrum router and directly plug into the modem i get no ip address to my google router.

i can also directly plug my laptop into the modem and get an ip address to go online.

please any help.

There does seem to be a specific problem affecting those who use Spectrum. Some users have resolved issues by:

  • Restarting the Spectrum modem
  • Asking Spectrum to reprovision the modem
  • Factory resetting the Spectrum modem
  • Factory resetting their Nest Wifi router
  • Temporarily connecting their Nest Wifi router to a different internet connection

So thank you everyone for your support, issues is that when you purchase spectrum Wi-Fi router. A person is not able to use their own router. You need to return the spectrum provided router. When you do so spectrum unlocks their modem to be used with any router. Not very smart I know it’s spectrums way force you into using their products. I’m assuming it’s so they can better track what I’m using and how I’m using it.
