Google Store support refuses to process my $200 rebate for Nest Secure.

Long story short. I received an email to my Outlook.com account regarding losing Nest Secure and how to redeem my $200 code. Google Store refuses to issue me the rebate code because I am contacting them from my school gmail account. They want me to contact them from my Outlook.com account, but there is no way to do that.

Here is my chat from this morning. The guy pretty much ended the chat and ran away.

5:52:25 AM Aira: I'd like to inform you that you need to contact from the other account from where you've purchased the device.

5:52:47 AM (me): You cannot log into the Google Store with an Outlook.com account

5:53:06 AM (me): I cannot contact Customer Support with an Outlook.com account

5:53:19 AM (me): It requires me to log into a Google account

5:53:30 AM (me): I did not use a Google account to buy anything

5:54:37 AM Aira: I completely understand your point, however we can further only when you contact us from the other account.

5:55:12 AM (me): Tell me how

5:55:13 AM (me): and I will

5:55:23 AM (me): How do I log in from the other account?

5:55:52 AM (me): How do I contact you from the other account?

5:56:05 AM (me): You want me to contact you from *******@outlook.com

5:56:06 AM (me): Right?

5:56:10 AM (me): Tell me how

5:56:24 AM Aira: (my name), we can only check if you contact us from the right account. 5:57:08 AM (me): What is the right account?

5:57:11 AM (me): The one I got the email sent to?

5:57:19 AM Aira: Yes, please!

5:57:22 AM (me): HOW?

5:57:38 AM (me): HOW DO I LOG INTO GOOGLE STORE SUPPORT WITH an OUTLOOK.COM EMAIL?

5:58:08 AM Aira: As mentioned,  In order to assist other waiting customers, I'll have to finish up this chat for now. If you have any other follow-up questions please feel free to contact us again or visit Google Play Help at support.google.com. Thanks for contacting Google support.

5:58:12 AM Aira: Aira left the conversation

5:58:13 AM Aira: Thank you for contacting Google Chat Support. Your chat session is now complete.

5:58:13 AM Aira: Aira ended the conversation

This sounds like a security practice support have to follow, probably to avoid fraud I suspect. You can in fact create a Google account with your Outlook email address, which should enable you to contact store support from that email I believe. Try these steps:

  1. Go to the Google Account Sign In page.
  2. Click Create account.
  3. Enter your name.
  4. Click Use my current email address instead.
  5. Enter your current email address.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Verify your email address with the code sent to your existing email.
  8. Click Verify.

Hi handyandy,

As we got our resolution here, I'm going to mark this thread as complete. I'll be locking this thread if we won't hear back from you again in 24 hours. Should that happen, feel free to create a new one if you have more questions or have other concerns in the future.

Thanks for the help here, davidking!

Cheers,
