Nest Connect setup fails

Nestconnectuser

I have 3 Nest Connects to support multiple Nest x Yale locks.  One Connect is set up and working, but the app fails to set up any additional Connects.  I have tried to factory reset the Nest Connect, but --either plugged or unplugged-- when holding the button it goes dark after solid yellow (never getting to blue).  If I let go at yellow, the pulsing blue comes on, but then fails to set up.  I get the same result in different areas of my house with different Connects.  What am I missing?

Hi @Nestconnectuser,

Thank you for your reply.
I appreciate the information you have shared. It's frustrating when a device doesn't function as expected. To troubleshoot this issue, please provide the following information:

  • Describe your network setup (e.g., router, modem, other devices).
  • Have there been any recent changes to your network setup or Nest devices?
  • Are other Nest devices experiencing similar issues?
  • Ensure you're using the latest version of the Google Home app.
  • Is this the first time you are having this issue?
  • Do you get an error message in the setup process?

While I gather more information, please follow the steps below:

  1. Restart Devices: Power cycle your Nest Connects, router, and other network devices.
Check Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure your Nest Connects are connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your main Google Home device.
  2. Use another phone or tablet to start the setup process again.
  3. Uninstall the Google Home app or Nest app and install it again.

Please let me know how it goes. Thank you.

Regards,
Jorge

Hi Jorge, thanks for the reply and help.  I did get it to work.  it was either reinstalling the Nest App or moving the Connect to within inches of a Nest Thermostat assisting device (instead of ~10').  Here are the answers to your questions anyway...

1.  Network setup is a Ubiquity system with many switches and WAPs.  All my other network devices work flawlessly.  I have rebooted the whole system and there has been no changes in configuration

2. All other Nest devices work flawlessly (including another Nest Connect on the other side of the house) except the one Nest x Yale lock depending on a nearby Nest Connect to connect itself

3. I am using the latest Nest App on both my iPhone and iPad.

4. The error I was getting: "failed to add the nest connect to account" NA017(0.65) suggesting I was not close enough to an assisting device; yet I  was only <10' from a working nest thermostat

5. all devices are on the same wifi SSID

I found the set up / factory reset instructions for the Connect confusing.  I have factory reset it by holding the button until it blinks yellow and then releasing which it then starts pulsing blue thereafter.  If try again and hold the button beyond the flashing yellow, it goes blank, so i assume the former was correct and it's now factory reset.  then when i try to set it up, i wake it up by pressing the button once to get the pulsing blue (set up doesn't say solid or pulsing).  either way, if i hold it longer, it will go into factory reset mode....

p.s., sometimes the pulsing blue is slow and sometimes it's fast.

thanks!
