Trying to add Nest Tag, says belongs to 'another account' but only ever used with mine

I have a Nest Secure and during the move from Nest -> Google it seems like one of my Nest Tag's has become 'orphaned'.  Placing it on the Nest Secure pad just generates the 'negative' noise, so have tried to add the tag to the account again, but I get told it's assigned to another account.   Given the only account I've ever had is this one which I migrated over from the Nest account to Google - I'm not sure what the problem could be.

How do you 'reset' a Nest Tag to get it to work, I cannot find it associated with anyone in my current Google Nest account ?

Hi Brad, yes in the sense that I have a Nest Tag that the system seems to think is associated with an account - I've had the tag from new so it's not like it's been used elsewhere ... but it's not showing as assigned to anyone in my Nest account.  My guess is that when I migrated from Nest -> Google this tag got somehow orhpaned.

How can I go about getting the tag re-associated with my Nest account ?

The Nest Guard and tags are not available in the Google Home App, so that could be part of the issue. These will only work in the Nest App. Have you tried adding them to your Nest App? Do you have the Nest App?

Yes I have the Nest app, I have lots of Nest hardware. It seems this tag stopped working when I migrated my login from Nest to Google as it seems the individual it was assigned to has vanished in the move.

 

when I try to assign it in the app, I’m told it is already assigned to an individual in my account - except it isn’t. 

how does one ‘reset’ the ownership of a Nest Tag - otherwise it’s been rendered useless ?

I appreciate the help @Brad. Do you still have access to the previous member's email? You can try adding it back to remove the Nest Tag. If that doesn't work, you can reach out to our Google Support Team for further assistance.
