All Smart Display can‘t use Bluetooth

Hello,

I hope there is someone, who can help me out. I have a Nest Hub 2 and 2 Xiaomi Smart Clocks. I can‘t use Bluetooth on all those devices.

For the background, I‘m a IT specialist for 10 years I tried several ways none of they work. I listen to podcasts for sleeping, but I‘d like to view a few series sometimes on the Hub on the nightstand, because my 6 months old son can‘t sleep from the lights and sounds of the TV. The Hub + Bluetooth seems convenient for me. I checked both devices, they have Bluetooth.

I tried pairing Bluetooth via the Home app on an iPhone 13 Max, a Galaxy ZFold 3 and a Xiaomi Redmit Note 11 Pro on the iPhone there is the error, „the connection to the Cloud cannot be established“ followed by „Cannot enter pairing mode“. On the Android phones I don‘t get the Cloud error but the same error regarding the pairing mode appears.

I tried to change the external DNS, to switch the Wifi AP, change the subnet, disabling IPv6, tunneling the external network through a VPN, resetting all 3 devices, using another Google Account, switching Wifi modes from Wifi 6 to 5, lowering WPA3 to WPA2, switching the Internet provider (different internet connection). I also removed my complete LAN and only had a single AP with one display connected.

All 3 devices are not pairable, non of those is older than 3 months, I just got into those devices when I found a promotion of the Xiaomi Clocks.

Is there anything, I could try? I‘m completely stuck and don‘t understand why such a trivial function doesn‘t work

Cheers

Hi PattHo,

Thanks for bringing this up.

Sorry to hear that you're having issues connecting your devices using Bluetooth. Since you've tried resetting the Google Nest Hub, can you please provide the cast firmware version so we can check what's causing this to happen?

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Princess
