Can't Play RTE Radio 1 on Nest Home

This week i have been unable to play RTE radio 1 on the Nest Home. It also won't let me cast RTE 1 from my phone to the Nest Home either. RTE radio 1 will play on my nest speakers and my LG chrome speakers. On the display, it brings up TuneIn and plays the "TuneIn" and then tries to load the station but then stops.

I have also tried to load all the other RTE stations and they haven't worked.

• What type of Google Nest speakers are affected by this?

Nest Home (1st Gen)

• What are the stations that are not working?

RTE Radio 1, RTE 2FM, RTE Lyric FM, RTE Gold, RTE Junior, RTE Radio na Gaelteachta, RTE Radio 1 Extra

• What stations are currently working?

Newstalk fm, Today fm etc

• Cast firmware version of your Google Nest speakers

Seems like we've been seeing quite an increase in reports around this about not being able to play RTE stations on TuneIn, and thanks for sharing your feedback on this thread. The team is aware of this issue and currently investigating. Once I have more news to share, I'll let you know.

I am having the same issue as well on Google Nest Home and RTE radio. It's working fine on other google devices using TuneIn, just not Nest.

I noticed that if I access RTE Radio 1 on TuneIn on Android phone, it works fine. However when I try to cast to Nest from phone, it fails, showing the station buffering at 0%, whereas without casting it working fine on phone.

We're sorry to hear about what you are experiencing right now with your Google Nest speakers. Since you've mentioned that RTE stations are the only ones having issues with, can you check if you will also experience the same thing if you command your Google Assistant app to play the radion station to see if it's working?

Hi, the BBC stations play fine as well as Newstalk FM, Spin 1038, today FM. No issues on the phone or Google nest speakers

Seems to only impacting rte radio stations.

Thanks for responding. We can try to perform a complete reset on your Google Nest speakers, however, we can't guarantee that this will resolve this since other stations are working. It would be best to contact RTE radio to check if there are any issues on their end.

Hi Jake, I removed the nest from the preview programme and did a full reset on one of my units. Still can't access RTE stations. Waiting for an upgrade to be pushed to the unit.

No it is still not working. When asked to play RTE Radio 1 on TuneIn. It loads TuneIn and plays the ads and the nothing. It is waiting to load the stream. I've been using a Gen 2 mini speaker at the moment instead of the Nest mini

Having the same issue with our nest hub. We have other speakers in the house and they work fine, the issue appears to be solely with the nest hub.

Having the same problem. Tried casting through TuneIn on chrome and the app, then tried rte app casting and nothing works. Tried factory reset and reboot but nothing worked. Is there any update or reason google has submitted ?

If I start RTE 1 on the nest mini I can use the home app to move it to the nest hub, but it won't start on the nest hub.  This started happening to mine a week ago.  Not sure that has anything to do with RTE?

I've contacted RTE and there say there looking into the issue. Response was earlier today

On Thursday last nest hub stopped playing RTE radio 1.  I remain able to transfer the station from one of my nest minis but the hub will open the RTE screen play the initial add and then silence.

I also have this problem - it started about 3 weeks ago, but I was on holiday until yesterday and I noticed this morning that it's still an issue. RTÉ radio stations play fine on my Android phone on the TuneIn, RTÉ Radio Player and Irish Radioplayer apps, and also when I ask Google Assistant to play RTÉ Radio 1 on my phone it plays fine via TuneIn.

When I ask Google to play RTÉ Radio 1 on my OG Google Home it plays, but when I ask it to play it on my Nest Hub (gen 1) or Nest Hub Max it doesn't. I can also cast RTÉ from my phone to my TV Chromecast, but not to the Nest Hub , Nest Hub Max or to my Google Home. 

All other stations work fine except RTÉ (and I am in Ireland so no rights issues).

I was in contact with Google and they reckon it is a problem with the RTE platform. Was also in contact with RTE and they have logged an issue with TuneIn. No word back since.

All questions previously answered in the thread. Based in Ireland, all RTE stations impacted, working on Tunein and working casted to all other Google devices except Home Nest Hub.

Yes, we seem to be all in Ireland. All RTE radio stations are not working on the nest displays. You also cannot cast from the tunein app to the display

Just a further clarification: this issue doesn't only affect casting - it also affects streaming directly via Hub devices (eg "Hey Google, stream RTÉ Radio 1").

This is a problem specific to Google nest devices. It works perfectly fine on my google nest mini device

I'm another user with the same problem. I'm in Ireland too.

My Nest Hub won't play RTE Radio. I have 4 nest speakers. They all play it perfectly. I also got a new Nest Hub for another room - it plays it with no issues. It is a second gen Nest Hub.

The problem lies with the first gen Nest Hub.
