Hello!
I can't get my HK citation Bar and Google hub with HK Alarm clock to play media trough one Audio speaker group together.
Very frustrating. I've tried everything. Factory resetting, checking if my wifi has the devices connected in 2.4 ghz. Contacting the manufacturer (Harman Kardon). This issue is common and i've read some other posts about this very same issue with the same setups as i do.
It all plays down to one major issue. That is, the Harman Kardon Citation line speaker not being on cast firmware 1.52.272222. Google speakers do have this cast firmware 1.52.272222.
The issue is, i've spoken to like 8 different Harman Kardon employee's and some CoolBlue customer support employees about this issue. They all say the same thing and point towards, you guessed it. Google.
According to them, Google releases the cast firmware updates to their 3rd party speaker makers. So then they can make their own firmware update around it and send it out to their own devices such as HK Citation devices. But according to HK and Coolblue. Google is either always late to the show with these updates for manufacturers or in this case, just haven't done any for a very long time.
Also, i believe i've read some time ago that a Google representitive himself said that the firmware doesn't always need to match for it to work. But eventually after lets say 10 updates, legacy mode wouldn't work anymore and then only the newer version wil work and the story repeats.
I tracked this issue down to pretty much every 3rd party audio brand with Google Home implementation. Google speakers work fine however.
The issue i have is simple.
-Why can i not force my Google speaker back to an older cast version? So it works with my HK speakers
-Why do I have to update my Google devices and be faced with issues like this?
-Why can't i just put auto updating on off. Why fix something if it ain't broke. Because it wasn't like this with google speakers.
-Why don't you just release cast update 1.52.272222 for 3rd party's
Not pointing fingers here, but since prettymuch every major 3rd party brand with Google Smart Home and Voice assistant have these issues with Google audio products. I think it's safe to say that Google here is at blame for this one.
I've waited 2 years. All the other topics got closed with no solution in the end.
I just want a permanent fix.
The thing is, i have everything from Harman Kardon Citation. I have Google Camera's and doorbell's. I would love to swap out the HK speakers for Google ones, but the audio quality from Google speakers just isn't even close to the sound and clarity that HK speakers have. Else, i would have swapped them in a heartbeat. Since i don't give a **bleep** about brand. I just care about sound quality.
Google, help me out here and give me some solid advice us product users can actually use before just telling us to contact our speaker Manufacturers. Because we did. I did. Other topics did so too.
How do i fix this. Can i fix it by reverting to an older cast firmware on google products or?

Welcome to the sad world of chromecast! I got my house full of LG devices, stuck at old Chromecast versions. Chromecast version 1.21, anyone? 1.36?
Like you say, manufacturers (like HK and LG?) are just pointing back at Google. And Google couldn't care less about keeping 3rd party devices alive for more than 18 months!
Not to forget the SpeakerGroup mayhem in Google Home (Sonos story). Long gone is the happy time of "Hey google, listen to MyFavoriteSong on MySpeakerGroup". It just worked, day in and day out.
I'm sick and tired about buying electronic waste! I'm pointing at you, Google!
LG Music Flow H5 Speaker
LG Music Flow H7 Speaker
LG Sound Bar SK10Y
I'm actually thinking of installing old-tech speaker cables around my house and run everything off traditional hifi-amplifier stuff, with some streamer connected to line-in (CC audioplug for now - until it no longer works?).
