I have an LG TV that is orphaned in my Google Home settings. It doesn't work with the TV and there is no apparent way to remove it from my Google Home or Assistant. I used to have an option to "remove service" when viewing this device in Google Home, but that option did nothing because this device is and was not associated with a service. The "remove service" option is now greyed out in the Google Home app for this device, so I don't even have that to try anymore (not that it worked in the first place).

It didn't work for me. I even deleted the home, then deleted the app after removing the devices. reinstalled, signed in, but the phantom tv is still there, AND google home still won;t voice control my sony oled google tv. any thoughts?

That's a terrible workaround. Please tell me there's a fix?

Hey there,
I understand that this can be confusing but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.
For clarification, are you trying to remove a device from the wifi list in the app? Or are you just trying to remove a device from a household within the app?
Please let me know.

I'm trying to remove a TV from the household. My understanding is there isn't a way to just select the TV and remove it.
I originally tried to remove an LG TV from the signed in devices but the TV itself remains as a ghost device. There's absolutely no option to remove that.
My understanding is the only thing to do is create another household move that ghost item over and then delete the whole house.
Which #1 is the worst work around required. It's honestly not a great solution and google should have a way to manually move devices by selecting them individually.
and #2 doesn't really solve the problem because I'll add the device back in and by default it doesn't work and I've had to move it to a 2nd home and delete it multiple times which again just shows adding devices have a pretty big lack of quality control from partners.
I can check the device now in my google home app and it just flickers on and off and the google home app just keeps saying that I should try reinstall it over and over. (I understand it's probably LG's fault) but google can't make it easy to remove the TV? It's really convoluted and a bit of a pain in the ass.

Exactly my point, it's not easy and not intuitive. Who thought that was a good idea because it's really not and google was just trying to drive partners so there's no quality checks on it. LG makes great TV's but their integration sucks really hard. It fails after getting added and used once now every time I TRY and add something I get my google home reminding me to reinstall the TV. What occurs is I have to create a different home once a week and move my TV over and delete the entire home. It's beyond frustrating and it's clear google doesn't care about the user experience it's more about driving partner adoption. That way if there's something wrong support and community specialists can tell users to follow up with smart home product manufacturers and google gets to save face saying "it works on our end, ask your smart home device manufacturer why it's not working".
It's frustrating, not very helpful and frankly really REALLY unintuitive.

Is it though? because looking through the nest forums there's a lot of people complaining about the same thing for years at this point. Doesn't really seem like quality control is given any type of priority.

also, why lock the thread? seems odd to me
