Can't set sunrise alarm with voice any more.

I used always be able to say "hey google set a sunrise alarm for 7am", and the alarm would be set with the bedroom light growing brighter in advance. This stopped working,  and now the alarm is set, but I have to manually toggle on the sunrise feature on the screen.   I've reset,  and tried using other wording,  but nothing works any more. Any ideas what the correct wording is now?

Hi Ocultado,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with the sunrise alarm that is not working automatically. I understand how frustrating it can be when things do not work as expected. But don't worry; I can help. I need to ask for some information to provide the best solution for this situation:

  • What Google Home device do you have?
  • Are your mobile devices and the Google Home app updated?
  • What other steps did you try to solve the situation?
  • Are you using the correct Google account?
  • Do you see any error code on the app or the device when you set the sunrise alarm?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,

Jenny

Thanks Jenny.

It's the original nest hub, and everything thing is up to date (including the hue bridge and the bulbs themselves). I've made sure that the correct lights and times are there in the sunrise settings.  I also reset the hub as well.

I've also tried a bunch of different terms like

Set a sunrise alarm for 7am

Set gentle wakeup alarm for 7am

Turn on gentle wakeup

Set a sunrise alarm (and then add the time when asked).

In each case it says done, pops up the screen with the alarm details,  then I have to toggle on sunrise on the screen and hit done.

I used just say "set a sunrise alarm for 7am" and it just worked without me having to touch the screen or do anything else.

Hi Ocultado,

Thanks for replying. I really appreciate all the efforts that you make to solve the problem with the sunrise alarm, including reset the Nest Hub and try with different commands. I have just another couple of questions to get all the information:

  • Is your Google Assistance updated?
  • If you toggle done, the sunrise alarm works as expected?
  • After you said the sunrise alarm command, try to ask, "Okay, Google, repeat my question."

Please let me know how this goes.

Regards,
Jenny

Everything is up to date (google devices, phone and hue bridge). It works as expected if I toggle it on the screen and press done.  It repeats back "setting a sunrise alarm for 7am", it just doesn't toggle for me anymore like it used do.  I've tried a few different phrases  (sunrise alarm, gentle wakeup,  alarm with lights).

It's as if the command phrase changed and I don't know what the new one is.

This is weird.  It hasn't been working for months. Even when I sent my last reply,  I was sitting beside it and tried again.

I just tried it twice now,  same words, and it's worked properly,  before I even looked at your latest reply.  Will test it again over the next few days.
