Changing time zone

dondalvo
Community Member

Hello,

I am currently using a VPN so the time reflected on the display is the one obtained from the internet, and not local time. Can't seem to find where to change time manually. Home address is set correctly and when I go to the display settings don't have the option of changing time zones. Is it possible to configure time manually?

Cheers,

Dalvo

Hi dondalvo

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

Your Nest Hub will base its time on the address from your Google assistant settings. The option to change the time manually is indeed a great feature, however, it's not supported as of the moment. I'd suggest you submit feedback about it, here's how.

Hello Juni,

Address is in Chile, but if I turn on VPN to another location time changes, and I have not changed my address. Maybe there is something that I am not doing correctly, because its not getting time based on address.

Hi there,

Google Nest and Home devices cannot communicate with the router or computer if any VPN or proxy servers are turned on. We recommend that you disconnect or disable any VPN or proxy servers.

Hello Juni,

Dont understand what it cant it do? Everything works fine but the time display. So I guess time is not given by the address on the device, just the internet location.

Thanks!

Hi dondalvo,

Have you had the chance to turn off the VPN and see if it will give you updated time based on the address from your Google assistant setting?

Hello Juni,

As I mentioned before I can turn on the vpn and time changes. Turn it off and time is set to the right time. So its not based on the address but on the ip.
