Chromecast Audio Speaker still offline since last "disruption" in March '25

As the title states, this Mini has been offline since the March '25 service "disruption."  I've rebooted to no avail, factory reset, to no avail, and am at my wits end.  The device is offline, so I can't update it.  Can anyone please tell me what I need to do to get this thing operational again?

Hi NancyML,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that your Chromecast Audio has still been offline since the last “disruption” on March 25th. Thank you for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you have taken to reconnect your streaming device. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • What version of the Google Home app are you using?
  • Are you getting any error messages on your TV screen or on the Google Home app?
  • What is the status of the Chromecast Audio LED light?
  • Have there been any recent changes to your WiFi network or home environment?
  • Is your Chromecast Audio linked to a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi network?
  • Are you using an Android or an iPhone device to set up your Chromecast Audio?
  • Is your mobile device updated to the latest version?
  • How far from the router is your Chromecast Audio?
  • Could you please double-check if your mobile device is connected to the same WiFi network as your Chromecast Audio?

In the meantime, I recommend you try the following troubleshooting steps to reconnect your Chromecast Audio:

1.  Reboot your router:

  • Unplug the router from the power source for 2 minutes.
  • Ensure that the router's lights turn off completely when unplugged.
Note: Some routers have backup battery packs, so it will be necessary to disconnect the battery packs as well to ensure that the router is completely turned off.
  • After 2 minutes, plug the router back into its power source.
  • Once all the router lights are back on and you can find the network name listed in the WiFi options on your mobile device or computer, you should check if the Google Nest or Home device is now connected to the WiFi network.

2.  Remove the Google Home app from your mobile device and reinstall it again.

3.  Restart your mobile.

4.  Restart your Chromecast Audio. Unplug the power cable and wait 3 seconds, then plug the power cable back in.

5.  Try to set up your Chromecast Audio device. You can use this Google Help Center article to find the instructions:        [How to] Setup your Chromecast Audio

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Virna
