Chromecast Audio units keep dropping off network

My Nest/Chromecast audio setup had worked fine for years save for the occasional offline error but more recently has become extraordinarily annoying as for no reason that’s clear to me, the Nest Home won’t cast to long-established Chromecast Audio Gen2 Units despite my not making any changes. I got the notification a couple weeks back when there was some issue (certificates?). While the speakers came back online after the fix, they’re now gone again. The lack of reliability is unacceptably bad. What the hell is going on at Nest?

To start, could you please provide a little more detail about your network and the issues you're seeing? Specifically:

  • Do you have a mesh Wi-Fi system in your home, or are you using a single router?

  • Have you noticed if these disconnections or casting failures tend to happen around the same time as any specific activities on your network, like when you're downloading large files, streaming videos on other devices, or playing online games?

  • Do you ever receive any specific error messages on your phone or within the Google Home app when the casting fails or the devices disconnect?

  • What type of content are you typically trying to cast when the issue occurs?" (e.g., music from Spotify, YouTube Music, podcasts, etc.)

  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried to reconnect the devices to your network?

  • How are your devices configured? Have you created a speaker group?

  • What is the status of the devices in the Google Home app when you have this problem?

The more information you can give me, the better I can understand what might be going on and suggest the most effective next steps.
