Connection problem during setup: could not communicate with your Google home -error

-Prompts:  Cancel OR Try Again ( try again does not work, just loops)

While adding a Google home speaker device back to Google home network due to a new WIFI router change, the Device connects to the Google home WIFI,  and sets up the Device  but when reaches connect WIFI password STEP it stops and errors.

Set up returns -> { Connection problem during setup: could not communicate with your Google home }  -error

Device shows four white dots that fade in and out.

NOTE:  I re-connected two additional previously connected devices with no issues.

This google home speaker device was removed from Google Home app and has been factory re-set multiple times {standard hold reset} , along with the instructions in Set up smart devices in the Google Home app.

Please advise on a possible solution or reason for error?    thank you .

Hi ProfNFL,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. What Nest speaker are we working with? To isolate if this is network related, could you try setting up your Nest speaker using a mobile hotspot? See the instructions below:

(You would need 2 mobile devices: 1st is for the Google Home app and 2nd will act as a Wi-Fi network using mobile hotspot)

  1. Turn on the mobile hotspot of your 2nd mobile device.
  2. Reset your Nest speaker to its default settings.
  3. Make sure your 1st device is connected to the mobile hotspot of your 2nd mobile device.
  4. Re-run the setup on your Google Home app and choose your mobile hotspot as the network to set it up.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Juni
