Deezer Playback Issues

Si
Community Member

Hi All

Just made the switch from Spotify to Deezer. Got a number of issues and wondered if anyone else had experienced the same and managed to fix them:

1. Playback is flaky, audio breaks up / plays intermittently / randomly stops. In most rooms where I have paired speakers it only plays out of one.

2. The cast to Google speakers is odd. I've had a scenario where it's playing a track on my mobile, whilst playing other tracks to the Google speakers (even though I've used the cast option from my mobile).

3. Deezer doesn't play my playlists when I ask my Google speakers. Just plays random.

4. Deezer doesn't play the tracks I ask it to a lot of the time, even when I specify artist and track. Google speakers confirm and then it just keeps playing the current track.

5. Asking Google to play Deezer to my "All Speakers" group almost never works.

I'm now 1 week into my Deezer epxerience on my Google speakers and it's awful, wish I'd never swtiched from Spotify. It does however work fine from my mobile with my ear buds or car, so it must be the way it integrates with Google speakers.

Anyone who can offer any help at all I'd really appreciate it

Thanks

Hi @Si

Thank you so much for reaching out to this community! I understand what you've been experiencing since you switched from Spotify to Deezer—several issues like unstable playback, not being able to play a song on all of your Google Nest Speakers, and it playing different songs than what's on your phone. Don't worry about what's happening, I'm here to help you!

I appreciate that you took the time to confirm that Deezer works properly with your phone and in your car. Based on what you've mentioned, I'd like to ask you a few questions before sharing some extra troubleshooting steps.

  • What is the make and model of the phone you use to play music on your speakers?
  • Did you try using a different phone to play music on your speakers?
  • Did you try to play music on each of your speakers one by one?
  • Did you try to play music on all of your speakers without using your group?

In the meantime, I'd like to share troubleshooting steps that might help you.

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

The phone I use is a Google pixel 8 pro.

No, mine is the only phone which I'm trying to cast from.

No, I didn't try each speaker separately.

No, I didn't try playing music on all of them without a group.

With respect I don't see how how resetting everything would resolve anything. Everything worked flawlessly with Spotify 2 weeks ago, and nothing in the setup has changed with the exception of Deezer replacing Spotify.

One thing I have discovered is that by dropping the audio down from high fidelity it's resolved the intermittent playback issues. However, I still had issues again last night casting from my phone, and again it played out of both (with a slight sync issue) and would not stop playing from the phone (had to turn the phone media volume to zero to resolve it)

Hi @Si

Thank you so much for keeping me updated on everything that has been happening. I understand you've discovered there was only a synchronization issue causing the playback to stop. For this reason, I'd like to ask you a few more questions.

  • What are the speakers/displays part of the speaker group?
  • What are the firmware versions of the speakers/displays?
  • If this issue happens via voice command, is there any error message?
  • Is this behavior consistent or intermittent?

Keep me posted.

Best regards,
Eduardo
