Is there any way to set the Nest Mini so the doorbell notification to sound only the chime without a voice announcing that there is a visitor?

Hi rcolin,

Glad you reached out. Google Nest or Home speakers and displays can announce when someone rings your Google Nest doorbell, or other compatible doorbell. With a smart display, Chromecast or Android TV, you may also be able to see who’s there.

By default, the doorbell will always notify you or announce the visitor near your doorbell. As of the moment, there are no settings yet to change it. As an option, you can turn on/off the visitor announcement settings.

Nest doorbell (battery) and other compatible doorbells

  1. Open the Home app .
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. In the top right, tap Settings and then Doorbell.
  4. Turn Visitor announcements on or off.

Note: You can also use Do Not Disturb to temporarily turn off visitor announcements for your Google speaker or display.

Nest doorbell (wired)

To turn visitor announcements on:

  1. Open the Nest app app home icon.
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings Nest settings icon and then Visitor announcements. This will take you to the Google Home app.
  4. When asked, follow the onscreen prompts in the Google Home app to complete setup.

To turn visitor announcements off, turn off your display notificationsYou can also use Do Not Disturb to temporarily turn off visitor announcements for your Google speaker or display.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Princess

Thank you for your answer but what I want to know is how to make the Nest Mini ring the chime bell but not play the voice announcing that someone is in front of the device.

Hi rcolin,

Thanks for responding. Right now, that's the only way how the doorbell works. While this feature is not available, we’d like to take the opportunity to encourage you to send a feedback to what you think are the things that we can add up and improve to provide a better experience when using your Google Nest speakers.

I'll consider this post as complete and will lock the thread in 24 hours. Feel free to start a new one if you need any assistance with your Google Nest speakers.

Best,

Princess
