Error when linking my account

yang1220

I've had my NHM for over a year now and it's always worked without issue. I was having a connection issue with it recently and tried to factory reset it. Now I always get the "There was an error when linking your account. Please try again!". I've tried a few times and always get the same error. Spotify still works, but I can't cast my photos to the ambient screen nor can I connect the camera. Please help!Screenshot_20210927-183623.png

Ugh. Same issue. I went out of town for a week, and I come back and most of my Google devices have been disconnected and don't work anymore; neat!

The Nest thermostat was a nightmare. Last device is the insignia speaker, I can't get it working, same error. Does Google even monitor this thread? Any solutions?

Same here. I don't know if it is related to a Google account password change I did some weeks ago. I had some problems with the hub max (it kept disconnecting from the internet), so I tried resetting it.

Setting up it gives the linking account error and hangs in a bank page.

I managed to finish the setup exiting and starting again a few times but the built-in nest cam is always offline no matter what.

This happens every time I factory reset (done that several times hoping to avoid the issue)

Hey folks,

Sorry to hear that you're having issues linking your account to the Google Home/Nest device. To confirm, are you using a personal Gmail account? Have you tried using a different account to further isolate the issue?

Please note that if you change your password recently, make sure to update your password on your phone to avoid issues on your devices that uses your account.

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi folks,

I just wanted to follow up on this. Does anyone still need help here?

This anomalous condition just randomly cleared up for me. Thanks for the follow-up though.

Hi, when using another account I did not get the error.

I still can't manage to set up the built in nest cam. It makes me scan the QR code then after a while it says it was not possible to connect to it (the nest hub max is working properly though so I'm sure the wifi is correctly set).

Hi Spookyvale,

What type of account are you using (Personal or Business)? Also, is this a first-time setup?

Please try these steps below:

  1. Set up the Nest Hub Max's Nest Cam in a new Home in the Google Home app with a tap on the plus sign (+) at the top left of the Google Home app and select Create new home.
  2. Remove old devices from the old Home first, before they are added to the new one.
  3. Move current devices to the new Home, then delete the old Home in the Google Home app.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi there,

Chiming in to see if you still need assistance with this. Hope the previous post helped. Let us know if you have additional questions, otherwise we’ll be locking the thread.

Best,

Princess

I did try to create a new home and reinstall all the devices.

I am still facing the connection issue when configuring the nest cam. For now I decided to give up.

Currently the camera works in the nest hub to recognize home members or look and talk feature, just not for indoor monitoring. I can live with that.

It's a pity because it used to work until I changed my account password (something I would like to do on a regular basis, for security reasons)
