During the last couple of days, I noticed my Google Home mini is taking a long time to respond after I say "Hey Google". Sometimes this is about 5 seconds (the time it takes to light up to show it's listening). Sometimes it doesn't even light up at all.
The "Hey Google" sensitivity for the speaker is set to the maximum, and a couple of times it has responded "immediately", but most times it takes 3-5 seconds. If I activate the hey google on my phone, the phone lights up immediately every time while the mini doesn't.
Is anyone experiencing a similar problem? Any fixes out there? (Tried to reboot already with no luck. A hard reset made it better for a while but after a few hours the delay is back.)

I have exactly the same problem during the last couple of days.

I guess it's a new problem. But also started for me in the last few days. It even got bad at recognising my voice. I had to retrain it.

The lights turn on a little bit late (3 to 5 seconds) but, as far as I noticed, after saying “Ok Google,” it hears what I said and does the job, even before it turn on its lights.

Yeah, I noticed that too. but sometimes it doesn't turn on the lights, so I keep waiting there to have to repeat. Other times I say "Hey Google", doesn't do anything, say "Hey Google" again, lights up and just says "What's up?". Quite frustrating! Are you also on a 1st gen mini or on the nest?

1st gen mini.

I have the same problem. I suspect it's a firmware bug.

Probably! I have reported it to google, maybe if enough of us do so they'll check it? I tried both the "Hey Google" (waited 5 seconds) "Give feedback" thing to report it and also contacted them through chat.

+1 from me. This is happening on at least 4 of my Mini devices. I believe they are all Gen 1 devices.

Pretty sure they're trying to get us to upgrade....

Ditto on all my gen 1 minis. The other ones I have seem to be working fine.

Yep -- I have 7 1st gen minis and they all are noticeably delayed when I say "hey google" in the last few days or so. My phone is annoyingly answering questions now.

Also having this problem, also began in the last day or two.
Can't wait for the Google rep to show up to this thread, give an answer that suggests they didn't read more than 3 words of the original post, and then mark the thread solved.

Exactly the same problem here, too. On both of my home minis.

In addition to this, one of my minis suddenly can't add to my shopping list either. It says "something went wrong" every time. The other mini works fine. Anyone know what that's about?

The time I experienced this, the list was full. It can't take more than 1000 (or 999?) items. Try removing ticked entries.

Hi Oderik,
Thank you so much for helping out and sharing that information. As we got our resolution here, I'm going to mark this thread as resolved. I'll be locking this thread if we won't hear back from you in 24 hrs. Should that happen, feel free to create a new one if you have more questions or have other concerns in the future.
Kind regrads,
Dan

My Home mini has started to behave a bit better since yesterday. Did you notice that? I'm not sure if it's as it was but it's not as frustrating as before.

Mine is good now
03-30-2022 04:29 AM
Confirmed - mine is better now

Confirmed over here too. Congrats everyone, we did it! (Not sure how)

Mine is good too.
