Find My Phone alert

Cuca

Hi,

When I ask Google to “call my phone” I only receive one tone/alert. The phone doesn’t ring. It used to work. I’ve tried about everything. Any ideas?
Thanks

Just wanted to say, having the same issue. Google Home *used* to send an alert / alarm sound to my iphone find my phone - full volume ping/sonar like sound repeatedly, even if in silent mode due to setting up "critical alerts" - now I just get one chime and an Assistant banner that reads "Finding your Phone with Assistant - Tap or Swipe to silence the sound" - it used to work great!

iphone 12 pro; software v 15.5
Using multiple Google Home devices (Mini and original full-size home)
Assistant installed on phone; voice match and critical alerts set up.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Let's go ahead and check these settings:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Settings and then Notifications.
  3. If you have the option, tap Turn on Notifications and then Go to settings. This takes you to the Google Home screen in your iPhone’s Settings app.
    • If you don’t have the option to turn on notifications, then notifications already turned on.
  4. Tap Notifications and then turn on Allow Notifications.
  5. Go back to the Google Home app for the setting to take effect.
  6. To turn on Critical alerts, from the home screen, tap Settings and then Notifications and then General notifications and then turn on Critical alerts.

Say "Hey Google, find my phone" or “find my iPhone” and Google Assistant should send a notification to your iPhone that makes it ring for about 25 seconds. To stop the ringing and dismiss the notification, tap the notification.

Important: Google Assistant sends the notification to the iPhone on which you last signed into the Home app Google Home app. It also tells you which iPhone it will ring.

You won't get a notification alert from your phone if it:

  • Is set to silent or Do not disturb, unless you’ve enabled critical alerts.
  • Doesn't have a cellular signal or isn't connected to the internet.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Princess

Hi Princess, thank you. Fully reset the Google Home. Still just sends a notification bar and one singular charm sound to my phone. Does not ring the sonar alert like it used to.

Thanks! Re ran all of these sequences and did not work. Instead of sending the old, loud sonar “ping” sound repeatedly to my phone, it just flashes a banner notification with the one google alert chime. It used to work perfectly.
Banner says “Finding your phone with Assistant. Tap or swipe to silence the sound.”

Hi Mountie,

Thanks for trying the steps.

Have you already tried performing a complete reset to your Google Home? Let's go ahead and try that to see if that would make any changes on its behavior. As soon as it is done, set it up and let me know how it goes.

Best,

Princess

Hi. Yes. Full reset. Still same issue.

Princess, they’ve been no help. In fact, no matter how I describe it they just reverted back to “hi, can you see if your Google Nest Hub sends a 25 second ring to your phone…” Lol no it does not. That’s the whole reason this thread was opened. ???

Hi - yes, complete. I'm just confused as I was already chatting with another group of specialists provided to my email from this thread earlier. Don't want to splinter the comms all up - but whatever it takes. Thank you!
