Google Assitant speaker no longer remembering where I actually left off in a podcast

listen to Google Podcasts on my Google Home speakers: "Hey Google, play The Daily" (or some other podcast).

Of course, sometimes I have to stop in the middle of an episode: "Hey Google, stop"

Then I come back sometime later to listen to the rest of the podcast: "Hey Google, play The Daily".

Until recently, Google Assistant would always pick up where I left off: "Sure, I'll pick up where you left off in The Daily".

However, in the last few days, it is no longer remembering where I actually left off, so it always resumes in an old episode. What can I do to make Google Assistant remember where I actually left off?

Note: If I listen to a podcast directly on Google Podcasts, it does successfully remember where I left off. So this seems to be a Google Assistant issue, not a Google Podcasts issue.

I’m having a similar issue. It’s stuck on where I left off 2 weeks ago.   No matter what i do it always reverts back to that older podcast episode.

This is happening to me too. Every time I ask it to play a podcast, it plays an episode from November. I’ve reverted to using Bluetooth to play podcasts from my phone. It’s a pain.

Bump. Same issue since at least mid 2021. Overall degradation in Google speaker listening and responses over the past two years. I'm feeling abandoned.

I'm so fed up of this issue. It happens even when only once device is used to listen.

Perhaps the only way to get this to work is to ditch google assistent and use Alexa or something else.
