Google Duo Video and voice calls not working via Firewall getting black screen

NazD

Hi All,

Can someone help me? We had our Nest Duo doing video calls, however recently in our aged care home the IT changed their firewall and since then I get a black screen when I make a call or someone tries to call me.

IT have opened the following ports but no luck, they are using a Watchguard firewall. Does anyone know what ports need to be opened for the Nest Duo Video / Voice calls to work?

UDP 1900

UDP 5353

TCP 8008

TCP 8009

TCP 1443

TCP 5223

TCP 5228

UDP 16382

UDP 16383

UDP 16384

Is there any official ports that we should be using for this? I can't find anything on the Internet.

Hey NazD,

Thanks for visiting the Google Nest Community.

Good questions! Please note we recommend connecting the Google Home/Nest devices on a private network for security purposes and for you to maximize the features of the device. Moving forward, the necessary ports and DNS addresses are listed below:

Ports:

  • Outgoing UDP Multicast on port 1900 and 5353
  • Incoming UDP Unicast on arbitrary ports > 53 and 123
  • Outgoing HTTP on port 8008, 8009, 80 and 443

DNS:

Google Home uses the following Google public DNS addresses:

  • 8.8.8.8
  • 8.8.4.4

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Muddi
