Suddenly and without proper reasoning, my Google home mini in my home office states that it is muted. Four orange lights show up on the speaker. I have touched the microphone button, I have toggled the microphone button several times, I have rebooted the speaker, I have unplugged it waited and plugged it back in. It will play music but it cannot hear me give Google Assistant commands. Please help.

Hey Susie833333223,
I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you — let's see what's going on.
When did it start happening? Is your Google Home Mini dropped or damaged? Also, could you try resetting it to its default settings?
Thanks,
Alex

Hi Susie833333223,
How's it going with your Google Home Mini? Did resetting your device work?

I have performed two factory resets, paired this Google home mini backup to the Google home app. Toggle the microphone switch several times. And she just keeps telling me that the mic is off. 😭

Hi Susie833333223,
We appreciate your efforts on trying the steps. Do you still remember when and where did you purchase your Google Home Mini?

I have NINE Google Home Minis inside and outside of my home. I play music each and every morning. We live on acerage and have livestock. Keeping music going all day is really sweet for the animals.
I have purchased them over the past three years from Verizon, Ebay, Amazon, etc. All brand new.

Hi there,
Thanks for the additional info. Have you tried checking the warranty from the store where you bought them? If you're residing to US and Canada, warranty is only one year from the date you purchased your devices. For more info about the warranty, you can check this link.

I purchased them one at a time, from various companies so I wouldn't know where I bought what.
I took a screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers and I dug out the microphone switch and when a hole appeared I took the screwdriver in there and just turned it and turned it and it broke the microphone switch and now I fixed the problem. I'll never be able to turn off the speaker but I'm cool with that. 🙂

Hi Susie833333223,
That's pretty clever! It's good to know that it's working. By the way, how many speakers are experiencing the same thing?

Thank goodness the one in the office here at home is the only one that has experienced this. I would hate for the rest of them to start failing. That would be such a drag. I love my music, my livestock loves their music outside, I'm a beekeeper and all my bees visit my English garden out in front of my front door daily, all day. I believe they really enjoy the music too even though honeybees are deaf! 🐝❤️

Hi Susie833333223,
Glad to know that it's working good so far. Sure the bees and your livestocks are more than happy now that the music is back. We're delighted to know that our devices make other living things happy not just us humans!
Since this has been resolved, I'll consider this as complete and will lock the thread in 24 hours. If you need assistance with your Google Nest speakers, feel free to start a new thread.
