Hey all,
I’ve recently purchased a GoogleTV and have had a Google Home Mini for a while (mainly for music and alarms and such). I recently moved and was setting up all of my personal devices under my own house as opposed to my family’s house.
The Google Home Mini at my current address should only be able to control the only other smart device on the network here, which is the GoogleTV. However, whenever I tell it to either “turn off/on TV” (in the same room as the speaker, they’re in the same room in the Google Home app), the speaker attempts to turn off a “Bedroom Roku” which is 50+ miles away in a completely different house.
Why does my speaker try to control irrelevant smart devices?

Did your family remove the Nest Mini from their Google Home app using their gmail account and did you perform a factory reset, and then add it to your Google Home app in your new "home" using your gmail account?

Thanks for a quick response. This Google Mini was actually never a part of that house. It was actually only ever used at my old house, (registered under my account) and I simply renamed my old house in the Google Home app to my new address/house name.
I am still a household member of my family’s house and have both my family’s and my current house available in the Google Home app as separate homes.
I will still try to factory reset my Google Mini and add it brand new to my current address.

Factory reset, I believe, is always recommended when a device is either sold, or relocated to a different location.

Did a factory reset of the speaker and it still tries to control external house devices (I.e. I accidentally turned off every light in my parent’s house because I told it to “turn off lamps” and turned everything off there instead of in my current house)

Hey there,
MplsCustomer and 78912 thanks for the help!
tmos22, that certainly hasn't been easy for you — let me help you out. Could you try creating a new home and moving your devices there? Also, kindly double check if your new home and devices have the correct and updated address. Uninstalling and reinstalling your Google Home app might work too.
Best,
Alex
