Google Home Speaker Groups

So I have a huge level of frustration in trying to understand which smart speakers will be compatible with Google Home AND be able to put in speaker groups.  It appears that the only speakers that You can group together and Google Home speaker groups are Google speakers. I find that the Google speakers aren't the best quality so I was hoping to be able to use maybe Sonos or Bose speakers.

I purchased a Sonos ERA 300 and had the worst time trying to add it to Google Home and even when I finally was able to connect it to Google Home there's no way for me to add it to a speaker group. So it appears that Sonos speakers cannot be added to speaker groups. You would think that there would be a list of speakers that will work with Google Home and Google Assistant as well as be able to be grouped in speaker groups. If anyone has really good knowledge of this I could use the help thank you.

Agreed!! Very frustrating. I bought a Sonos ONE for outdoors, it'd be nice to play on that speaker in my backyard and have the rest of my google TV (stereo), in sync with my google speakers upstairs speakers and basement speakers. Hopefully they'll sort it all out
