Google Home Spotify not working

Hi

 

Me and my partner have several Google speakers and thermostat and a display in the kitchen. 

 

All speakers are connected to our Google Home account and all work great apart from the Kitchen Display. For me it works when I want to cast music through Spotify but it never works for my partner. It just shows connecting on the Spotify app. Have checked that we are both linked etc. Turning it off and on again hasn't worked. Have unlinked Spotify from the device through both phones etc and relinked

 

Please help!!

Thank you for posting in the community. I’m sorry to hear that your partner is not capable of casting music through Spotify.

I'd like to ask you a few questions in order to gather more information about the concern and find the best way to fix it.

  • What type of speaker do you have?
  • Are both devices under the same WiFi network? 
  • Is your partner’s phone updated? 
  • Is your partner’s phone sharing the same home?

It is a Google home nest 2

Same WiFi

And both devices are on the same Google Home

  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before? If so, what have you done?
  • Do you receive an error message when you try to use Spotify?
  • Do you experience the same behavior with another service for music streaming? 
  • Do you use Spotify Premium?
  • What type of command do you use to request music? 

In the meantime, try to follow this step.

 

Check out this article: Link your music services and set your default service to connect your favorite music streaming services to your Google Nest Mini. Choose one as your default, and it'll play music from that service, for example, Spotify.

I have done the trouble shooting that is on Google's advice, remove devices reset/reboot everything they advise. 

 

Error message after a while just says can't connect 

 

Don't use any other service
