Google Home and Nest Speakers and Nest Hub Max Display all do not play YouTube Music or YouTube

Hi Nest Community,

In the last month I have the following issues with my home Google Home environment with regards to playing videos or Music from Youtube or YouTube Music:

1. Unable to cast music or video from phone to any Google Home or Nest speaker or Display

2. Unable to start an Audio or Video stream from a smart home device

Playing streaming music from apple music or Spotify works perfectly.

When I click on a YouTube link on the Nest Hub max I just get a blank screen and a message stating an error as occurred.

I have tried the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Factory reset every device
  • Recreated Google Home household
  • Changed the preferred streaming choice for Audio back and forth from youtube music

This is really frustrating and appears to be isolated to YouTube and YouTube Music

Apologies for the inconvenience. That's not the experience we want you to have and thank you for doing the steps before posting. For confirmation, it's happening on your Nest, Audio, Nest Mini, Google Home and Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max, right? How about on your phone or web browser, does YouTube Music or YouTube work? And when you say factory reset, were the steps the same as what you find on this link? If it's also happening on your phones, this might already be with YouTube but let's see.

The issue is happening on every Google of or Nest Speaker or Display in the house.

The issue does not happen on a phone (ios or android), iPad or Laptop (Mac or Windows) but we are unable to cast from any of these devices to any of the speakers or displays with music or video.

The link you provided was the exact one that I used to reset each of the devices in the house.

Thank you for confirming that the reset steps that you did were the right ones. Are all your devices on the same Wi-Fi network? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot too:

 

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers. 
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops. 
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Apologize for the delays. Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. To confirm, do you have a premium account with YouTube Music? Also, please check the current firmware version of your device.

 

  1.  Swipe up from the bottom of the display screen.
  2. Tap Settings and then About device. You should find your "Cast firmware version."
    • For Nest Hub (1st gen) and Nest Hub Max: If “Fuchsia Version” is also listed, this means your device runs Fuchsia.

I am able to play any other video and audio service except YouTube, YouTube Music and YouTube Kids
