My account name is Sunny Rio. I told it my name is Peter. It said it would call me Peter. If I say "what's my name", it says "Peter". But if I ask it my age, it says "Sunny Rio is 47". Why?
This is for a standard Google Home Speaker, and nothing to do with Android, but this forum insists I choose an OS?!

Sorry to ask but are you 47?

Yes, and what is a CMH?

Hi folks,
@SunnyRio Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. A few questions: What is the name stated in your Google account? Are you getting the same response if you ask your phone’s Google assistant?
Keep me in the loop.
Best,
Juni

My name is Erick & my assistants both call me Kardi

My Google account has the name Sunny Rio. I don't wish to change that, it's used on hundreds of websites. My real name is Peter. If I give this name to my Google Home, then ask it my name, it gets it correct. But if I ask my age, it calls me Sunny Rio. My phone does the same.

Hi folks,
@KardiD718, thanks for posting. Were you able to check the instructions on the previous post? Is this happening on your Nest speaker too?
@SunnyRio, whenever you ask your Google assistant an inquiry about you it will base in the information that you provided on your Google account. I understand that you want it to call you Peter, however, this feature is not yet available. In line with this we appreciate it if you can submit feedback so this can be worked on. Here is a helpful link.
Let us know if you have other questions and concerns otherwise, we will be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Juni

Hey folks,
Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. Just to add, you can ask your Google Home device to remember your preferred name without changing or updating the name on your Gmail account. Just say, "Hey Google, remember my name is Peter," then it will start to call you by your preferred name.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Muddi

I did that, and it does know I'm Peter if I say "what's my name?", but "how old am I?" results in it calling me Sunny Rio. I'm not aware of any other time it would use my name. I only have one person registered on it just now, perhaps it would use "Peter" more often to distinguish between two users? In fact if I added a user called Helen, without her own Google account, what would it say if she asked her age?

I bought it only a week ago! And it's not a mini. And it sometimes calls me my highness 🙂
And what is a panda?

Hey SunnyRio,
That's strange! Could you try re-training your voice and toggle on/off personal results on the Google Home app. Let's see if that makes any difference.
Cheers,
Muddi

Oops I was meant to get round to that and the email reminding me has disappeared.
Turning off personal results stops it addressing me at all when I ask my age. And it still addresses me by my actual name if I ask it my name. So that is a valid workaround.
But I need personal results on for other things don't I?
The problem is it's using my account name instead of the name I've told it for certain things, sounds like that won't change without a change to the programming at Google's end.

Hey SunnyRio,
Sorry for the confusion. No need to permanently turn off personal results. You just have to toggle it off/on just to refresh the settings. Also, have you tried retraining your voice?
Cheers,
Muddi

Yes I retrained my voice, and I've tried the personal results setting. With it off, it gives no name when telling me my age, with it on, it calls me by my account name.
I think this is just the way it's designed to work.
Mind you, I only get addressed by a name on two occasions - asking my name gives me the name I told it to use. Asking my age calls me by my account name. I've not found anything else where either name is used.

Hey SunnyRio,
Thanks for trying. I tried it on my devices and was not able to replicate it. My devices call me on my nickname when I ask my name, and will only say my age when I ask it to tell my age. Are your devices enrolled in the preview program? Could you give us the current version of your devices? Also, does the same issue happen when you use the Google Assistant app on your phone?
Keep us posted.
Cheers,
Muddi

Mine also only tells me my age when I ask it my age, but about 1 in 3 times it will say "Sunny Rio (my account name) is 47" instead of "you are 47". Try asking several times.
I have an original Google Home speaker, and an Android 11 Samsung phone. Both do the same.

Hey SunnyRio,
Got it! Let's go send another feedback for this. This time send a feedback after you experience the issue so the team can easily check what's going with your device. Follow the steps on this link to send feedback.
Cheers,
Muddi

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to send the feedback? Just in case, here's the link. Tell me once done.
